I have a small HP laptop that was recently replaced. It ran out of memory, couldn't get updates and eventually got glitchy. Anyways, I've been trying to do a factory reset in the hopes of bringing it back to life. Its an 11.5" which would be perfect for a few applications (trains, ham radio, etc).
I've tried about three different ways to do a total reset and it gets about half-way through the process and stops. Before I abandon this project entirely, is there anything else I could try? Or is this a lost cause?

Pork butt, trout, steak, burgers, chicken, shrimp, yes. Smoked laptop? That's a hard pass.

You could try installing Linux on it, but bombing a hard reset sounds to me like something such as bad RAM.steve-in-kville wrote:I have a small HP laptop that was recently replaced. Re: Smoked laptop?
Linux would actually fit well with one of my applications.

Run a memory scanner on it. They often come with Linux installs. If it runs clean, then you may be good with a linux install.

Try hard not to offend. Try harder not to be offended.
Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not after you.
I think I am funnier than I really am.
