Re: Russ Douthat on Critical Race Theory

Never actually heard of or seen them. Not in any school I’ve ever worked in. What are you talking about? There always a bazillion different clubs like Spanish Club, German Club, Christian athletes, DECA, HOSA, Muslim students, LGBT students, NHS, etc etc. but none of them exclude anyone so no. That...

Re: Russ Douthat on Critical Race Theory

Ken, I would be interested in hearing your opinion on multicultural spaces in schools. Do you view them as a form of segregation? Never actually heard of or seen them. Not in any school I’ve ever worked in. What are you talking about? There always a bazillion different clubs like Spanish Club, Germ...

Re: Mennonite Ancestors

I'm wondering if that's where I got my colorblindness from too. As a total aside, have you tried the glasses that correct colorblindness? I haven't tried the glasses. I think I would be questioning colors even more so than I do now since I wouldn't always have glasses on. I've learned to see colors...

Re: Mennonite Ancestors

There IS a fairly high incidence of vision problems in my own family background. One of my older brothers had to have glasses at 5 years old, and I started not long after that age. One of my aunts had cataracts already in her 20s. I also heard already many years ago that the Hutterites tend to have...

Re: Murders Increase by Record 30% in 2020

NYC and rural Texas are two very different places, far from a the same exact thing. But the Constitution is the same constitution in both places, and guns are just as deadly in both places. Well, technically they kill more people in TX than NYC. My point is that people here are eager to violate peo...

Re: Murders Increase by Record 30% in 2020

You seem to think that handguns found in places like NYC are some sort of illegal contraband black market sort of thing with filed serial numbers. They are not. They are ordinary legal handguns bought in ordinary gun stores in surrounding states that only become illegal when someone carries them in...

Re: Murders Increase by Record 30% in 2020

The only thing that makes guns illegal in NYC is the fact that the law says that carrying handguns in NYC is illegal. The same exact "illegal" gun that some black guy is carrying in NYC magically becomes a legal gun if a white guy is carrying it in Texas. Same exact gun. A illegal gun in ...

Re: Murders Increase by Record 30% in 2020

As far as gang violence goes, these numbers can raise or lower pretty easily based on whatever is going on in their hoods that year.

Re: Affiliation

I have noticed a lot of ethnic Mennonites still think of themselves as Mennonite in a way and describe themselves as "ex-Amish" or "ex-conservative Mennonite", etc. - I don't think describes an affiliation at all. Most people don't define themselves by "I am not this thing ...
