Re: Would you allow your teenager to volunteer with the local fire dept.?
I know several young CA men who work as EMTs. I think this is different in the US because it is often tied to an ambulance service while the police is tied to law enforcement. Perhaps it is just part of the American psyche but I find that people consider police instruments of the state but do not fe...

Are the conservative Bible Brethren Anabaptists? I found some websites and couldn't be sure.steve-in-kville wrote:COB - Church of the Brethren
DB - Dunkard Brethren
BBF - Biblical Brethren Fellowship (not to be confused with the Bible Brethren which is far more conservative!)

Yes, the children belong to both parents. To answer Josh’s question: the man was raised Catholic the woman raised Lutheran. Okay... here's my train of thought on this: I'm the last person who wants to break a family up. Having both parents is essential. Also, if you tell them they need live separat...

Re: The NEW Non-resistance Poll
Let’s say your neighbor is a single lady who is separated from her husband. He has a past of extreme violence. One night you see him enter her house, and from your place you can hear sounds that you know are not a loving discussion or even furniture being moved. You know something violent is happen...

Re: Poll: Church Structure
My church isn't officially Beachy but it's essentially that, and we're blessed to have other plain congregations support us and send guest preachers, etc. One thing I've learned is that the Mennonite conferences are different between the USA and Canada, so conservative Mennonites in Canada are more ...

Re: Internet connections
I have advertising blocked but my school program requires me to access sites like youtube for homework. When I lived with family our wifi had its own filter (blocking 18+, hate speech, that sort of thing, it famously blocked my sister's Christian school's website so it clearly had some issues,) but ...

Re: Unrepentant Hearts: Anabaptist viewpoints?
I know that often plain communities will disfellowship someone to one degree or another (from not allowing communion to forbidding their presence altogether) but I've found that people are more likely to repent or at least acknowledge their issues if they're still integrated into the community. I've...

Re: Conservative Anabaptist Church Finder & Information
Is anybody familiar with the Disciples' Fellowship in Westfield Massachusetts? I've seen them before when I was in western MA and assumed they were the church from Russell, but they seem to be their own group. Their website lists John H Yoder's 1977 Confession of Faith which I've never seen on a chu...

Administration can mean many things, from running the office to actually preaching. In schools the administrators are often the ones in the office, not the ones teaching.ragpicker wrote:Why should women be involved in church administration?

Re: Amish & Mennonites Victims of 4 Major Financial Schemes Since 2008
This happened at my church (fellowship haven). I think churches need to keep an eye out for these, especially with their older members who don't know which emails are suspicious, which "doctors" and "financial advisors" are preying on them, etc.
