Re: A Kingdom Response to the Societal War

A war is brewing! Polarization is on the rise in this country like I've never seen before (perhaps akin to the 1960s and 1860s)...and so is anger, hate, distrust, suspicion, pride. Voices on the left and right are getting more vitriolic, irrational and increasingly prone toward violence. The echo c...

Re: Mathew 5:44-45 Our response as Christ Followers

This is a very powerful post, but I'm not sure I have a lot of good suggestions. Sometime later I hope to hear the sermon. Right now I want to respond to the "Loving Isis" comments. No doubt, prayer for the Isis fighters and their families is certainly appropriate. You really didn't say wh...

Re: The Amish: American's Fastest Growing Church?

After posting the last message I suddenly realized that my math was really off. 100 members of a church aren't all going to have children. So, let's start over. Most likely 35 percent of the total will be wives and mothers. It would be difficult to figure exactly what the increase would be due to va...

Re: The Amish: American's Fastest Growing Church?

This will be a very quick answer. Hopefully, someone else hasn't made the same comments. It is not surprising that the Amish have the fastest growing church. The problem with the vast majority of denominations (or churches) is that they are not appealing to their communities. They may have wonderful...

Re: Catholic Questions

At this point I don't want to get into specifics, but if the Mysterium is the last word on Catholic teachings, then I am wondering how the church made some very bad decisions in the past. Why should they over ride the beliefs of other voices in the church who obviously have more common sense and may...

Re: How Would You Answer ?

Because outside of Christ there is no hope. God loves us and wants a relationship with us. He is the only answer for our problems. As one pastor said "You can go to Heaven, or you can go to Hell, but you can't stay here." Life is short and we are going somewhere. The choice is yours. Ken

Re: Catholic Questions

No doubt I am jumping into the middle of this conversation, but I just want to lift a thought concerning the following statement: "Yet this Magisterium is not superior to the Word of God, but is its servant. It teaches only what has been handed on to it. At the divine command and with the help ...
