Re: Why Obey ?

But then there are those who are the same 7 days a week in any and all situations. My grandma was one of these. Full of joy and love and peace that opened many doors for her sharing her faith. I'm just saying I don't see much of this anymore and I know I am not living in this way yet I believe it i...

Re: Simple Questions About Head Coverings

I never understood why Mennonite women in our area (and we have many types of Mennonites) who wear a head piece 24/7 because they might pray at any point in the day, have husbands that don't go without a hat 24/7 for the same reason. The women could easily pull out a head piece of sorts when they w...

Simple Questions About Head Coverings

I want to ask a few simple questions about head coverings. I do not want to debate this topic in this thread. Rather I just want simple, straightforward answers to the following questions: Are there Conservative Anabaptist Churches (or other churches for that matter) that teach and practice that the...

Josh wrote:There is nothing in AOG's statement of faith that requires not believing in nonresistance, the veiling, modesty, separation from the world, or a high view of church brotherhood.

Re: Atonement model?

So the function of satisfaction for Aquinas is not to placate a wrathful God or in some other way remove the constraints which compel God to damn sinners. Instead, the function of satisfaction is to restore a sinner to a state of harmony with God by repairing or restoring in the sinner what sin has...

Re: Foolish Controversies - Spurgeon on Titus 3:9

And an attitude of telling one to stay and reform is in my opinion a reformer attitude that relates nothing to the early Anabaptists, or the early church. Grebel, Blaurock, and others would get up and talk at length at every mass for about six months until they were silenced and ordered to leave. T...

Re: Atonement model?

I would go probably with all three in more or less this order of priority. 1. Christus victor 2. Moral influence 3. Substitutionary atonement (as opposed to penal substitutionary atonement) There are also aspects, though not all, to J Denny Weaver's atonement articulation that I find compelling. Wh...

Re: Why Obey ?

And if it is for our best life now, why do many of us not reflect a life that the unsaved world would be more drawn to want ? Because sin is fun and enticing, especially when you first engage in it. It is only once you are enslaved to it that you realize it isn't fun anymore. People prefer darkness...

Re: Saved by Grace, Judged by Works

So, if I understand what you posted above on forgiveness, if a Christian dies and still is holding some unforgiveness in their heart against someone who has harmed them, then God will send them to hell ? I would say that somebody who has lived a life of forgiving others in accordance with the comma...
