Pietism

One word that I have heard a few times now in my journey of exploring the Anabaptist Church/Kingdom Christianity is Pietism. I looked up the word in Theopedia (http://www.theopedia.com/pietism) and found this description: Pietism was originally a reform movement in the German Lutheran Church during ...

Re: Basic Christian Beliefs

So taking this a step further... If one of the "basic Christian beliefs" is that people should not be part of the church or commune with other believers unless they give evidence of the new nature... and a group of Christians or a church does not require this of those who want to be part ...

Re: Communion

Thank you RZehr and Ernie for your responses. That is what I expected and it helps confirm what we were already on the verge of deciding: that our children should not participate in communion until they are baptized members of the church (and until they are old enough to appreciate what that means).

Communion

My wife and I have been thinking about Communion lately. Up until this point, we have allowed our children to partake of Communion, but I have started to feel like that may not be right and that perhaps they should not partake of Communion until they are baptized into the church. What do most Conser...

Re: Blogs

This is our blog related to Bible translation among the Enga people of Papua New Guinea. https://pngboyd.blogspot.com Users of MN might enjoy reading the following two posts in particular, which incidentally were written before I started down the path of becoming a Kingdom Christian (although lookin...

Re: Investing for Retirement

As I was checking the Enga language translation of Acts 2:45 just now, I was struck by something in the ESV text. The verse reads: And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. There are two interesting things to note. The first is that...

Re: Attitudes toward the King James Version

Hopefully I didn't stretch the caveats of the OP too far with this post. :) What you have shared is fine. I just want to avoid King James Only debate on this thread. Personally I like the ESV as well and that is the main translation I read, but when I have trouble understanding it, I like to turn t...

Attitudes toward the King James Version

I am curious to see what attitudes users of Mennonet have to the King James Version. I am not interested in starting a discussion on why or why not the King James Version should be the translation of choice for English speakers. (I find that such discussions seldom bear fruit.) So I would request th...

Re: The rich young man

I would offer the following observations. Obviously Jesus quotes from the Ten Commandments, but he only quotes the commandments that have something to say about how we relate to other people rather than the commandments about how we relate to God. Interestingly he does not quote the commandment abou...
