Unless hierarchy is built into your model of church, like the Anglicans, Catholics, Orthodox, Methodists, and some Anabaptists.

Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises

Lancaster Conference comes to mind... Are you thinking of the difference between the Martindale District and the rest of LMC? That seems to be all that's left of anything resembling what Ernie is talking about and I'm not sure how much longer that can last. I was thinking though of the slightly bro...

Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises

My brother’s church’s school used to try to do this. So one family might watch TV at home, another doesn’t really practice the veiling, and so forth, but they all try to go to the same school. The school has a certain dress code and so forth. Every family was supposed to respect the other families....

Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises

Somehow I think this has been tried before. I think most attempts at this, do not establish solid parameters, but rather keep moving the fences, resulting in a bigger and bigger tent. And I agree that this does not work. I’ve seen too many removed bishops and ministers due to holding the line, any ...

Re: Poll: Who will win 2024 Presidency?

The poll is asking who do THINK will win, not who do you HOPE for or who SHOULD win. I understand. But I'm still curious whether the poll reflects people's feelings about their choice of President, or whether some people voted for who they think will win, even if that is their least favorite candid...

Re: Poll: Who will win 2024 Presidency?

I didn't vote in this poll/thread because I don't know who will win. And for the record, I don't know which one would be the best/worst for this country, so I have no incentive to vote in this poll/thread for that reason either. The thread asked Who will win, but the poll asks Who do you think will...

Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises

I also don’t see it working to try to compose a church / school of people with wildly varying practices. It seems such a congregation lacks unity at a fundamental level. I don't know what you mean by wildly varying, but as I said earlier, there needs to be parameters of course. I'd rather be in a c...

NedFlanders wrote: Tue Apr 23, 2024 11:14 pmDoes this change in Pilgrim mean they will stop setting up in other churches “backyard” as you call it?
I doubt it, since a significant portion of growth in Pilgrim churches is transfer growth from more conservative churches. This way of growing the church is a part of their model.

Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises

In reality many people from less conservative practice view anything more strict as absurd and almost make it their mission to “convert” them, and mock the more conservative practices. My experience is that absolutely every group does this. I have not found any exceptions (except maybe Swartzies, b...
