Re: Respect: Earning it, keeping it, getting it back?

Makes sense when the person in office is a woman I guess. ;) I don't think there is any Bible backing for the idea. Please do explain on the Bible not backing it. I'm curious on your views on this 8-) Anyone I ever met who insisted on "respect the office but not the man" it turned out to ...

Re: Today ...

Feb 23 Is it to speed up your heart or slow it down? It can only speed it up, the highs they can control with meds. This will help to keep me on the level...(so much for my bubble in the middle) Supposedly, it will help eliminate the lightheadedness and dizziness that I get from time to time. ♫Some...

Re: Annoying text messages

You are communicating with computers, not real people. No actual person will ever read any messages you send back to a number sending out mass text message spam. Just block the number and move on if they don't give you an unsubscribe option within the text message. It is all you can do. On an iPhon...

Has anyone read "Grave Error" by C.P. Champion and Tom Flanagan?

Re: Cons. Anabaptist ordination practices

In our congregation, nominations are given by members - the lot is determined by "natural break" for example - if one name is given 60 times, and 2 names 3 times and two times, we would move forward without a lot. Candidates are then interviewed to determine sense of call, as well as to d...

Re: The Lord's Prayer

Next phrase - And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil Well, perhaps this phrase in the prayer will trigger more interest. In 2017 the Pope had a real problem with this wording and approved it be changed to “do not let us fall into temptation”. His argument was - “It is not a good ...

Re: The Anabaptist perception of sandwiches, subs, hoagies, grinders, heros, wedges and spuckies!

We had a place nearby that sold (from what I am told) the best cheese steak within a reasonable driving distance. Older couple had it, retired and now leases the building to a pizza shop. Rumor has it, the next generation may bring it back in the form of a food truck. This has the natives all exite...

Re: Baptism in the Catholic Church

You have to understand it from a Catholic perspective to know what I meant. Popes have been warning of the infiltration of modernism (closely associated with liberalism in our understanding) into the Church since before the turn of the 20th century. I believe that is what we are witnessing today. O...

Re: Dispensationalism, John Darby, etc.

I've heard very few who would state that Jesus teachings are irrelevant...even among those who are loud and proud dispensationalist. Scofield Reference Notes, Matthew 5:2 ... the Sermon on the Mount in its primary application gives neither the privilege nor the duty of the Church. These are found i...

Re: Coronavirus Outbreak

Also this. https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/daily-quotidien/231127/t001b-eng.htm In 2019 we had 3,300 death of an unspecified cause. In 2022 we have 16,000 such deaths. I wonder why this could be? Click through to the underlying data table which which is much larger and there is this footnote under ...
