By "active member" do you include people who have applied for baptism/instruction class or only people who have completed it or just someone who regularly attends?
Are there any specific Anabaptist groups you want to exclude from the list of Conservative Mennonites and Anabaptists as well?

Re: Are there any Anabaptist Networks to help single mothers?
In the evangelical world and particularly the liberal Christianity world, a great deal of focus goes into helping "single mothers". I think it's a bit misplaced, and the fruit isn't particuarly good. I spent years in a liberal Christian setting supporting this kind of ministry and it did z...

Re: Bootstrap, Max, Temp, Groundrules ...
Maybe a focus on nonresistance would be a good thing to consider. What does nonresistance have to do with this? I don't see any violence or physical force in play. I have noticed that a few voices here are the loudest ones, and they aren't Anabaptist nor Mennonite, and never have been. I'm not sure...

Re: Have Christians unintentionally caused abortions?
We don't have an obligation to make the consequences of sin easy - which is what single motherhood is. And fathers out of wedlock have serious consequences too like child support. I see more support for single mothers than I do the difficulties young men face who can't keep up with child support pay...

Re: A Mennonite view of divorce and remarriage
there's much conflating of human law, human reasoning, and scriptures, without mutual recognition of when-where-how these leaps are being made. on another note. it's odd to imagine Jesus saying or suggesting we be faithful to "at least one marriage." :-| "pick one and stick with it?&...

Re: A Mennonite view of divorce and remarriage
Wade, what are you saying? Are you saying that since all men are sinners, they deserve it and are guilty if their wives cheat on them, divorce them, and abandon them? I don't think Jesus said anywhere that everyone is automatically guilty (in marriage); indeed, he gave an exception to someone who di...

Re: Separation from unbelieving family members
When one continuously has conflicts with everyone else around you, it's often wise to ask if the problem is with everyone else or if it's with you. I think we should do our best to be a strong witness of reconciliation, peacemaking, and love to our families. Unfortunately, as a new believer, I didn'...

Re: A Mennonite view of divorce and remarriage
Where does the Bible ever refer to marriages as invalid? It's a concept I can't really find in the New Testament. Luke 16:18 “Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and he who marries a woman divorced from her husband commits adultery. It seems to me Jesus is implying ...

Re: A Mennonite view of divorce and remarriage
I wish we could talk about the elephant in the room of how tolerating divorce and remarriage would ruin our Plain communities, but without having to twist and stretch scripture to do so.
