Re: Flannel shirts

t1, I first observed such fads in 2010 and predicted soon people in Ohio would embrace such fads and sure enough they have. A big part of nonconformity and plainness, for me, is creating a culture where young people don't need to chase fashion trends in order to have any friends, fit in, or be attra...

Re: Word of the year: post-truth

Conservatives and liberals can both be post-truth. For what it's worth, I think conservatives and liberals can both be authoritarian, too. It's a lot easier to think clearly about these issues if you treat them separately. You've got to admit this is a bigger problem for liberals in our culture rig...

What types of education are we talking about? Just normal everyday school education or vocational/life skills training as well? The Mennonite schools I'm familiar with (including the one I teach at) have fairly conventional academic programs, with no vocational or life skills training other than sh...

Re: Education

Re: Word of the year: post-truth

Liberals decided to tell everyone that boys can be girls, men can marry other men, and that Islam is a pure, peaceful religion and the only hateful, violent religion is Christianity. In short, a lot of people don't see liberals as in touch at all with truth anymore, or with any ability to be unbiase...

Re: Education

Boot, some cities this is happening in are York, Reading, Baltimore, and New York City - and probably more I don't know about. Frankly, any family willing to move reasonably close to a plain area (which includes many cities) can avail themselves of an amazing - and nearly free - education. One schoo...

Re: Education

Sounds pretty great... How are these schools staffed? It is a common option when graduating high school to go start teaching the younger grades. Typically since they can't pay too much someone in the church provides a place to live / meals etc, if a teacher moves in front outside of the community. ...

Re: Flannel shirts

My Carrhart flannel I'm wearing right now has a tiny tiny logo, and it would be very easy to remove it.

Re: Peacemaking after the Election

To give an idea of how bad the fake news problem is, a conservative oriented person informed me Saturday that "the military aren't allowed to have Bibles anymore". Another person nodded in agreement. It is complete fiction. Over on the left, people think all Muslims are going to be require...
