Re: War in Gaza
For the underlying question, the best answer is that empires often seem willing to sacrifice lots of ground troops for dubious ends. Re: Charlotte Shootout
A question though...
Is there really no way for law enforcement officers to avoid this sort of thing? It sounds like they eventually drove an armored vehicle right into the house.
For example, Could they not use such vehicles to serve the warrant initially, so they would have some protection?

4 Officers killed.
I'm really sorry that their lives needed to end this way. I wish there was much less evil in the world.

Re: Poll: Auto Accident Fatalities and Injuries
The Maryland governor and other officials continue to offer prayers for the families of the 6 men who died when the Francis Scott Key Bridge went down. Meanwhile people die daily and receive permanent injuries every day in Maryland, but there are no prayers from the governor for those people that I ...

Re: Occupations that are uniquely objectionable to Conservative Anabaptists
Did conservative Anabaptist businesses take advantage of the Federal COVID PPP loan and loan forgiveness program? I don't know the answer to that question but your mentioning of COVID made me curious. And if so, were there religious objections to doing so? The majority returned the checks to the go...

For example, here in Washington State the legislature is composed of 98 Representatives and 49 Senators for a t...

Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises
Flawed as the conservative Mennonite community may be, the finances, emotions, and time invested in trying to help newcomers and their families assimilate into the community stands as a testament to a desire that the new community members will share in the cultural capital of the community. I'm not...

Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises
Ernie, I'm not ready to say it's good or bad but I am pointing out it's not "staying the same" from a philosophical viewpoint and that shift likely has repercussions that should be considered as well. Yes, I will be quick to say that there are some really negative repercussions. However, ...
