Re: God Bless the USA" Bibles
In my church, we even talk about why we don't fly American flags or say the Pledge of Allegiance. This Bible seems like another example of where I don't think Christians should go. I'm surprised you put so much energy into defending this by deflection. Would you do that if we were discussing church...

Re: Political office
That is ridiculous and is quite different. However, if I found that someone wanted me to take them to such a place, I would probably decline to drive them there. I don't support men going to things like brothels, strip clubs, and so on and would not want to play any part in the exploitation of wome...

Re: They call it a NEV -- a Neighborhood Electric Vehicle
When I say "Beachy" I mean the mainstream Beachy constituency, which as a rule becomes more worldly over time until it is indistinguishable from non-plain churches. I could also pick on the CMC for this, except their transition to non-plainness is almost complete. The transition with the O...

Re: Poll: Auto Accident Fatalities and Injuries
San Francisco is a wealthy area but I stay as far away from bart / muni etc as I can. I like taking public transportation in lawful areas. I avoid it in lawless areas. Wealthy areas often (but not always) are better about enforcing the law, but some of the wealthiest areas, like SF and LA, are desce...

So by the same token I assume you also believe that a Christian cannot work for a cable TV or internet company I certainly wouldn't install television to people's houses. TV is full of bad things and has been a very bad influence on society and has little to no potential for good. Internet at least...

Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises
These problems all got a lot worse during COVID. As a general rule, plain people (particularly the less conservative they are) prefer to socialise with their relatives and don't even think to include their non-relatives in things. I'm not sure how this problem could be fixed. My take on it is that ...

Re: God Bless the USA" Bibles
But as long as he is seeking to rule this country he merits attention. And to pretend this isn't relevant to Christian life is absurd. Especially when he is trying to weaponize Christianity and divide the country for political gain. Is there some other past President or candidate you had in mind th...

In the part of California my wife is from, the local fire department holds a Brazilian supper fundraiser. The amount given is actually a donation - no set price. They even have "drive thru" service where you get a meal to go. Of course, most of the volunteer firefighters are Mennonites whi...

Re: God Bless the USA" Bibles
I wonder how upset some of the posters on MennoNet who display such righteous indigniation about this would be if Biden were promoting/selling Bibles. Quick, divert attention away from the Kingdom of God and reframe it in terms of polarized political enmities! Quick, invite speculation about things...

Re: Political office
So I assume you could not work as a postal carrier. And presumably not as a UPS or FedEx carrier? Do you distinguish government from private entities here? I assume you would not sign up for the job and illegally destroy people's mail. What laws are more important? God's laws, or men's laws? What a...
