Re: Occupations that are uniquely objectionable to Conservative Anabaptists

I didn’t sign up for PPP because of that exact language. In retrospect, I left a lot of money on the table… and I agree with ks here, anyone who took PPP funds had better not ever complain about much cheaper forms of welfare for poor people. PPP handouts were often in the millions, paid directly to...

Re: Occupations that are uniquely objectionable to Conservative Anabaptists

I think that closest example in my lifetime of conservative Anabaptists across a broad range of occupations profiting broadly from macroeconomic conditions is probably Covid. I heard that CAM's donations at one point during Covid were up by 40%, credited in large part to excess Mennonite & Amis...

Re: Occupations that are uniquely objectionable to Conservative Anabaptists

There are quite a few conservative Mennonite farmers (and others) who refuse membership in co-operatives due to considering it an unequal yoke.

Re: Occupations that are uniquely objectionable to Conservative Anabaptists

As far as I know, my grandfather sold his grain for the highest price he could find. Which was usually (but not always) the local farmer's co-op of which he was a member. And when the war came along it was so profitable that they were able to buy another farm. As Upton Sinclair famously wrote: “It ...

Re: Political office

I'm simply pointing out that the mail service is a PUBLIC service and. The Post Office is, in fact, the only government agency that is actually authorized and mandated by name in the Constitution. Consequently it is up to the public (through their legislatures) to determine what is appropriate and ...

Re: Political office

The Postal oath of office is the same as for all other Federal employees. It is as follows: ‘‘I, ______do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same...

Re: Political office

Or critical medications for shut-ins? Did I say something that made you think I would oppose this? If you deliver the mail your job is to deliver it, not read other people's mail and judge it. And that, my friend, is why I won't take a job as a mail carrier. Because part of the job involves deliver...

Re: Photography Sinful ?

It was only a few years ago that I became aware of some Anabaptists (and I'm not aware of any Christians who believe this outside of Anabaptism but perhaps there are) that resist taking photographs as a violation of one of the 10 commandments. So, I had to look closely at this text in Exodus 20:3-6...
