Re: The NEW Non-resistance Poll
cough, me too? Why are you guys special? Sunbeam, don't bother with the PM; we would all like to hear! :D If it were only the people who are in this "room" hearing the story I would, but I have learned about the "cloud of witnesses".They are not always an appreciative audience....

Re: The NEW Non-resistance Poll
I found out once, how non-resistent I would be if I were attacked by a stranger. I was about pacifistic as a cornered wild-cat. I know this is not funny. But the mind pictures it brings are just a little bit funny. Just a little. Obviously I would love to hear the rest of the story. But with out th...

Re: Mens/Brothers Meetings?
Okay, so you still have the meetings only they are members' meetings. Our decision making seems to be done at deacons' meetings without members or the rest of the leadership. I guess I would have to admit the idea of men's meetings didn't sit well with me either. When we have counsel meeting, the w...

Re: Mens/Brothers Meetings?
I do not have a problem with the occasional men's breakfast that may have an inspirational aspect to it. But a "men's meeting" that is essentially doing church business and even making church decisions. I have no use for it whatsoever. In fact feel so strongly about it that it would be a ...

Re: Children wearing Headcoverings
Mr. Dan, would you see what most Mennos consider another ordinance, marriage, in a different category somehow? That would also have deeply spiritual symbolism and yet Christians and non-christians alike participate. I don't know. I honestly think it is not abundantly clear, in a variety of regards a...

Re: Children wearing Headcoverings
It seems to me it is consistent to teach our girls to cover their heads when they pray....just as we teach them the importance of modesty, and industry, and honesty, and obedience, kindness, and forgiveness. You make a very reasonable presentation Sunbeam (wish you'd post more :)), particularly if ...

Re: Children wearing Headcoverings
In my view, it is most consistent to take the passage on veiling and unveiling and apply it the way we apply the rest of the teachings in that same passage. Even though men and women are specified, the teachings there are creation principles aren't they...? ("does not nature itself teach you?.....
