Re: War in Gaza
Has there ever been a war in which a major country has supplied military aid to a country that is going after a common enemy (and destroying a lot of infrastructure and many civilians in the process), while at the same time offering aid to surviving civilians of that state? (on a scale like we curr...

Re: Francis Scott Key Bridge Collapse
Too bad for Maryland that famed bridge builder C.C. Myers passed away recently.

Re: Francis Scott Key Bridge Collapse
I’ll guess that they throw up a temporary bridge within 8 months. And then a new permanent one will take longer than…I’ll guess 4 years. I think they have a temp bridge up within a year and maybe, maybe... a new one up sometime within 30 years. I meant to say at least 4 years. Not before. Oh dear: ...

Re: Distinguishing Mountains from Molehills
Consider two hypothetical men. One man is a member of a nonresistant church, nods firmly when his pastors speak of it, would never defend himself with a gun, and teaches his children the same. But he resents his neighbor for an old dispute about the boundary line on their property; he gets angry at...

[quote= I also agree with this point — https://thefederalist.com/2024/04/30/in-defense-of-dog-killer-kristi-noem/ A fascinating aspect of this “scandal” is to see how people apply a subconscious animal hierarchy to Noem’s story and against which they judge her actions. I have said nothing outrages ...

Re: Paul Graham - How to Disagree
Just so I understand…we should go straight to the bottom of the pyramid because it is the broadest and most foundational part? It is the bottom line, right?
We should just cut straight through the fluff covered top, and get to the gold?

Re: Political office
But we should. The right thing to do would be to not deliver pornography to people's mailboxes. I am very disturbed by this point of view that it's OK to do immoral things as long as an employer is telling you to do it. So I assume you could not work as a postal carrier. And presumably not as a UPS...

El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele
https://youtu.be/pa8PGsiYjUE?si=qrzZkqXtAOHWk4BQ El Salvador and Argentina deteriorated so incredibly out of control on violence and inflation. When the pain of continuing doing the same thing finally grow larger than the pain of change, the people elected and supported real leaders who were ...
