Re: Acceptable Music
If it's not too late, set in place a hard-and-fast rule that no instruments are to be used during a regular worship service, and having them at any other church-sanctioned activities are at the sole discretion of the ministry. Merely allowing them "occasionally" on Sunday mornings has resu...

Re: Is diet & excercise important to you?
The older I get, (psh... I'm 37) the more I'm concerned about peoples' weight. Mine, especially. I'm 5'10" and 194#, fully dressed. I'm assuming my chiropractor (whose office's scale I use after appointments) prefers it that way. I have occasional joint pain, which would increase if more ...

Ditto, if I could swim (and had the time).
Re: Username
My username is what I use online pretty much anywhere these days, excepting sites I remain active on that I'd previously chosen a name for or ones that generally expect you to use your real name. It's a play on 'Admiral Ackbar' from Star Wars, with the latter half tweaked to be an anagram of 'bacon'...

Re: Sunday School vs. Church Attendance?
Here is a real-life example from last Sunday at a COB congregation: 1- 500 2- 342 3- 390 I haven't checked in a while, but I think these percentages are similar to what my church experiences. Part of the cause of the discrepancy is the amount of "dead wood" (on the membership roll yet hav...

Re: Go-cart Gearing
JohnsKart1.jpg JohnsKart5.jpg ^A few pics from the years-ago Craigslist ad I bought this from. Thanks for the reminder about the CycleKart site. I hadn't been there in a while. :-) The Honda GX200 engine (6.5 hp) is pretty popular around here for kart racing. I should say, the knockoffs are. I get ...

Best Cell Number Search?
I was sent a mass text recently, as were close to 20 others from my church. I have most of them in my contacts list, but some are apparently newer attendees. Which website does the best job of matching the cell number you have with the correct name? I like http://spydialer.com , but it's only a litt...

Re: Guys only: What type of suit/tie/whatever do you wear for formal occassions?
I currently wear khaki pants for work, church, and most any "dressy" occasion. Ties I've worn about 3-4 times in my life, usually not by choice. I have a specific pair of shoes for Sunday services/funerals/weddings/etc. My lone button-down short-sleeve shirt serves for most dress-up events...

Re: How to track a hurricane
Here's a weather aggregator I learned about recently. Warning: It's EXTREMELY busy visually, and takes a long time to fully load.

Go-cart Gearing
This may appeal to only a small subset of you (gcdonner + ?), but here goes. Let's say I'm seriously considering running a 30-tooth (+/-) sprocket on my go-cart's axle. The driven sprocket has 10 teeth. That's a 3:1 ratio. Later this year I hope to install a "40 series" torque converter. B...
