Re: Mens/Brothers Meetings?
I voted for "Other?" Our congregation has members' meeting on an as-needed basis, but regularly-scheduled mens' and womens' meetings on the fifth Wednesday of the month. There's also a yearly business meeting. ragpicker wrote: ...why should women have a voice in anything to do with church?...

Re: Winter * Spring * Summer * Fall
Indoor activities can generally be done during any time of the year. Summer opens the door for many activities that are best-suited for it, although late spring and early fall may substitute as needed. I will say, though- anyone who rides motorcycle below 50 degrees is a Crazy Person.

Re: What’s for supper?
This evening I was full on random food I bought elsewhere (that statement sponsored by Big Lots), but I have my experimental chili sitting in the fridge. Currently, it consists of bacon bits, kidney beans, salsa, and barbecue sauce. Next time I'll probably swap out the barbecue sauce for some pancak...

Re: Pecking order, social standing and status within Plain Mennonites
I was told recently that a certain 40+ year old lady still grapples with how she was mistreated in her high school/youth years by others. Today if someone is rude or unkind, she associates it with her unpopularity in her youth. Most of who her current social circle is now, has completely changed fr...

Re: Men's Hair and beard styles?
I don't recall my BMA church's standards saying anything more than the hair not growing long enough to cover the collar and possibly the ears. The written standards are not as easily accessible as before- perhaps they're only printed en masse around the time a change in the standards is being consid...

Re: How to Disappoint Church Hoppers And Keep Them From Staying
Shouldn't the goal be to convince hoppers to mature in their faith at your church instead of getting rid of them ASAP?

Leave some kombucha https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kombucha sitting around overnight. It'll become plenty zippy.

Re: odd website
They seem to like saying "nonviolence". From what I've observed elsewhere (the mission field at https://www.facebook.com/groups/MennoNerds ), that term is used by liberals claiming some sort of Anabaptist affiliation and indicates a mindset of active resistance to the use of force by even ...
