Re: Shortage of affordable housing in the US

and then there is the issue of all sizes of homes being converted to short term rental vacation homes. I own a short-term rental apartment. I like the option of staying in a rental home or apartment myself when traveling; it's often a much better choice for a family over renting multiple hotel room...

Re: Coronavirus Outbreak

Well, they got back to me. They need to know my full address, phone number, and what organization I am part of, before they will "forward my request to the appropriate division." So we keep waiting. See if people are allowed to request information strictly on a personal level. They alread...

Re: Dispensationalism, John Darby, etc.

So apparently, there are two churches: One set up by Christ with no church hierarchy or titles, - that has only 12 Apostles, and another "church" set up by Paul that has as many "apostles" as you can shake a stick at, as well as popes, cardinals, bishops, pastors, preachers, min...

Re: Shortage of affordable housing in the US

It costs $200 a sq ft to build where I live mostly due to labour costs and material costs. That means a modest 1,500 sq ft house costs $300k to build. Not including the cost of permits, environmental studies, road building, impact fees to pay for building schools and so on. In California the cost i...

Re: Dispensationalism, John Darby, etc.

It's hard for me to keep track of who is to be believed and who isn't, and when, and why. You have said elsewhere that Peter was deceived about Paul. And yet here you quote Peter as being an authority. It's pretty confusing. I don't find your assertions convincing. I have no idea why I should trust...

Re: Dispensationalism, John Darby, etc.

Exactly how and when did Paul become an "apostle"? We are not told precisely how or when Paul received that designation, which is simply a term meaning "a delegate, an ambassador of the gospel, or one that is sent." Paul was called by God in such a way that the early church view...

Re: Dispensationalism, John Darby, etc.

Here are a few examples of early Christians whose words are witness to the church's view of Paul as an apostle, and of his writings as accepted among the scriptures. The website at that link lists, for example, some quotes from Polycarp, believed to have lived contemporaneous with the apostle John. ...

Re: Dispensationalism, John Darby, etc.

Both Ananias and Paul claimed that Christ visited them here on earth, either physically or in a vision. You don't see that anywhere else. And it violates Matthew 24:23-27. The only other examples I can find of someone having a vision of Christ are Acts 7:55 where Stephen sees Christ in heaven, and ...

Re: Dispensationalism, John Darby, etc.

o is Ananias trustworthy, or not. I thought you said earlier Ananias was an imposter - now you seem to be suggesting his vision of Christ isn't necessarily problematic. You said previously that the reason we know Ananias was a deceiver is because he claimed to have seen a vision of Christ. What giv...

Re: Christian Orders and Lessons for Anabaptists and similar groups

Some of you may remember a long discussion we had on MennoDiscuss about Christian Orders and their similarities with the order of Plain Anabaptist churches. Out of that discussion came two articles in 2017 that some of you may have read. https://churchplantersforum.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Ch...
