Re: Do Plain Catholics exist?

Well we have visited around 12 EO Churches, some more than once, 1 for about a solid year & still visit occasionally. Pants are rare & some women completely cover their heads- When we visited a Russian EO Church, they had a kind sign by entrance doie asking women to cover their heads & ...

Re: Do Plain Catholics exist?

I don't even know why it was SO important to grill Max about being PC. It never made sense to me. Our friends that are EO look more Amish than many Amish. The reason we asked questions was because his website had pictures of German Baptists, but claimed they were Plain Catholics. So I can imagine t...

Re: Do Plain Catholics exist?

i’m more with you about not being so put off by Max’s claims to plainness, but his refusal to answer direct questions, for instance, from the start, he’s found it important to say he was invited to the forum to represent Catholicism, he’s been asked several times over the years, “by whom?” no respo...

Re: Do Plain Catholics exist?

People need to quit treating other Christians outside of their own denominations like enemies. I don't do that, and in fact maintain cordial relations with other Catholics - indeed, a Catholic person and myself will be organising an ecumenical summit (as much as one is possible) between Mennonites ...

Re: War in Gaza

I haven't spent time in this topic.

Tonight I sat down to read Zephaniah. It's been awhile.
Chapter 2 caught my eye, I don't know- this is a prophetic book. Not sure then the mention of Gaza in Chapter 2 is meant to be.

Re: Do Plain Catholics exist?

Maybe whoever invited him would rather not be revealed. I see the mob mentality against him. I liken it to those after Trump, no matter how Max would answer any questions the relentless accusations and pursuit to insist he came here to proselytize will never end. He knows this. Our dear Orthodox fri...

Re: Church good at evangelization

If evangelism is just living by example then every Anabaptist church is "good at evangelism" You also need to talk about it. Indeed- the very definition of evangelize indicates sharing the Gospel. The first Anabaptist I met, an Amish man I would say had the gift of evangelizing every wher...

Re: Do Plain Catholics exist?

It may be but he's ever so correct in thought and observation. This obsession is so weird .. He is as you describe, IN SOME WAYS. When he first registered, i encouraged him, i was interested, i saw him as a devout Catholic, RCC, i wasn’t concerned about “plain.” Others were. Some were (i thought, a...

Re: Questions about Communion / Lord's Supper

The blessing of Communion is in being obedient to Christ. I think it is very important not to fall into argument over the variance among groups (Although it is interesting to see how others practice Communion, and how those practices evolved). From its birth, Anabaptism was about simple obedience t...

Re: Questions about Communion / Lord's Supper

In Davids book he said ";The Latish speaking church referred to baptism and communion as "sacraments". The Greek speaking church referred to these same rites as "mysteries". Interestingly, Catholic scholars use the terms sacraments and mysteries interchangeably. The term My...
