Re: Are You Dead Yet?
Thanks Valerie. I just separated it from a one paragraph to help me ponder each one of these. Sure makes me see I still have a long way to go in Dying To Self. However, I do see some progress God is making. I think Martin Luther King Jr. once said - “I may not be the man I want to be; I may not be t...

Re: Who reads Greek?
Many things I read are "Greek to me". I find myself at times reading Greek right here on this forum.

Re: Saved, unsaved, saved again
Some of my random thoughts on your OP, Sudsy. Some are really random  none of them are nonnegotiable and definitive articles of faith. These are just my life experiences and observations. God doesn't leave us; rather we leave Him when we are distracted by the world and forget who we truly are:...

Re: Saved, unsaved, saved again
I thought my problems were things like I wasn't kind to some people, etc. - basically the world's definitions of right and wrong. Once I decided to try to follow Jesus, he started changing things about me I didn't know even needed changing. And I realised his standard for me was much higher than I ...

Re: When does Romans 14 apply?
Question DanZ - where in NT scripture do we see the early church establishing "collective (church) conviction'. We'll Sudsy...off the top of my head...the second description in Scripture of the early church (Acts 4) includes these words: "Now the full number of those who believed were of ...

Re: Knowledge puffeth up
But the New Testament also talks about knowledge in a positive way. What kinds of knowledge and approaches to knowledge help us in our daily walk as Christians? What kinds of knowledge and approaches to knowledge just puff us up? 1 Cor 13:2 - If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all myster...

Re: Saved, unsaved, saved again
I thought I got saved when I was 3 or 4 since I asked Jesus into my heart and spoke in tongues. I think I repeated this when I was 9 and 13. Don't really remember anymore. By the time I was in my 20s, I didn't think God existed at all and certainly didn't feel, act, or think I was saved. In my 30s ...

Re: The Brotherhood Filter
In times past, God has raised up an individual to get the "brotherhood" out of a rut in their Christianity. Some church splits (i.e. Anabaptism) resulted in renewed interest in following Jesus. However, regardless of how we attempt to remake the church or not remake the church into our lik...

Re: When does Romans 14 apply?
If I would put Paul's examples from these verses into one category (eating meat or not, esteeming one day over another), I would say they are examples of personal religious conviction sincerely aimed at pleasing God . A brother or sister doesn't eat meat because they believe this practice is what G...
