Re: Plain Politics and the Two Kingdoms

I thought Christ was clear that His kingdom is not of this world and that only certain people can even see or enter it. The thoughts about one kingdom or two earthly kingdoms/Lutheran ideas are so far off from the simple words of Christ it seems really odd...

Re: Nonresistance

I can't tell if you're joking ? He clearly did not. You got me that yes, there are other uses but I was referencing physical uses, I just wanted that to be clear and was wondering if that is what you meant Thanks for referencing scripture. I might well use a physical sword for cutting wood, kindlin...

Re: Nonresistance

re I don't know of any other uses for swords than warfare. What purpose did Jesus Himself say ? (two at least I can think of) To fulfill prophesy. To separate. Do you think when Christ said those things He was calling us to have and use physical swords to do those things? I can't tell if you're jok...

Re: Nonresistance

While most conservative Anabaptist would still consider themselves non-resistant, I have studied the writings of the early anabaptist writers and early confessions such as the Dordrecht confession. It seems from conversations with leaders across the conservative mennonite spectrum whether its Midwe...

Re: Blessing and Cursing

One of my friends is quite upset that his second wife recently left him. I said to him that it was good. Some people might take that as a cursing or not nice.
But I think blessing always carries an eternal perspective even if it doesn't look nice or a blessing to some people.

Re: Close Discipleship

Is he looking for counsel or just someone to talk to? Another question that I believe needs to be asked, “Do you believe your friend is a committed Christian?” I would have to confess, I probably learned more from mistakes but as older, wiser Christian friends would tell me as I tried being a Chapl...

Re: "Is It Time for Christians to Defy the Governor Regarding Public Worship?"

We attended a Mennonite Church yesterday in Holmes County. It was full, a few empty seats. Not a single mask was worn in or outside- they did have a sign to ease abstain from hugging ,& shaking hands. Okay- so they didn't publicly announce they were defying mandates, but obviously they did defy...

Re: Poll: Response to Covid Pandemic

For me the topic title and the questions don't really make sense to use so interwoven. Does a persons response automatically dictate being tied to trusting some secular group? - No, and if it does then maybe that is the persons god? Sorry, but I am not understanding your difficulty. Care to explain...

Re: Do most Mennonites consider themselves Protestant?

I hope you can come out here one day Ernie. When we were at a gathering at the local ultra CA lead ministers home with lots of people talking and children running in circles laughing and playing he leaned over to me, gesturing towards everyone with his usual big smile and almost having to yell said,...
