Re: POLL: Relating to Power: The Christian and Politics

While our calling as individuals and communities of faith should challenge us to lives of simplicity and generosity in response to Christ’s teachings, I believe we would be remiss if we failed to respond publicly to systematic exploitation and even abuse that at times is perpetrated upon the weak a...

What would you who chose #1 have to say about abortion? Would you say that abortion is wrong? Would you say that it ought to be illegal? Would your words change depending on whether or not your listener has a position in government? These are not rhetorical questions; I am sincerely interested to s...

Simplicity yes, but the color of the car does not really do that, does it? White would be more in keeping with purity, whereas ...

Re: Church leadership: term limits

Should we do term limits on church membership too while we're at it? Or how about proving that you are genuinely converted? How many members would fail for lack of fruit? In that respect maybe there would be value in broadening the scope of the semi-annual council meeting questions. I would say thi...

Re: Thanksgiving

The "X" in X-mas (still pronounced "Christmas") is a taking into our alphabet the Greek "Chi" which looks like "X", the first letter of "Christ". To me it emphasizes Christ. Thanks! I hadn't known that. i just learned about this (last year) from MrJ...
