Re: War in Gaza

For example, the drug war and the war on terror are actual violent fighting wars with lots of use of force and armed soldiers. And lots of killing. Even though they aren't against nation states per se. While they really do not fit the definition of war, they use the term to define it. It is still a...

Re: Poll: Auto Accident Fatalities and Injuries

And the price of gasoline also doesn't account for all the externalities that it causes from smog and particulate pollution, respiratory diseases and so forth. Similarly, the promoters of electric power typically neglect the negative effects of producing batteries, solar arrays, and grid power. But...

Re: Poll: Auto Accident Fatalities and Injuries

In California it already costs more to drive an electric car than just drive a hybrid gasoline car. Kind of a ridiculous situation. Why is it ridiculous? We actually subsidize gasoline in many many ways that we don't do for electrical production. From wars in the middle east to mineral leasing on p...

Re: War in Gaza

I don't think that is accurate. In my experience, the Anabaptist focus is not on defining war. But rather, on defining what is meant by by Biblical teachings on nonresistance. And most Anabaptists equally object to participating in every form of armed conflict against others, whether it is conventi...

Re: The Israeli state?

"Political Zionism and Christian Zionism are anathema to Christian faith ... The true Israel today is neither Jews nor Israelis, but believers in the Messiah, even if they are Gentiles ..." Agree or disagree? Disagree. I don't think they are an anathema to Christian faith, just irrelevant...

Re: War in Gaza

What is war? Is militarizing our southern borders against the drug cartels war? It looks a lot like war. Watch the movie Sicario. What about the predictions of violence we hear about if Trump doesn't win the election? We have even heard people talk about such predictions here. Is that war? Is prote...

Re: Distinguishing Mountains from Molehills

Those I believe we should turn the other cheek when they persecute us. But at the point of them killing me, which I have not experienced just only by their words, I suspect I would defend myself and am quite sure I would defend others around me from being killed also. I would try not, in this defen...

Re: Poll: Auto Accident Fatalities and Injuries

So I would suggest that when self-driving cars do become widespread, they will essentially be 2nd or 3rd generation electric cars. And widespread self-driving technology won't happen until after we are largely converted from gas to electric cars. I don't see that happening in 5 years. The new cars ...

Re: Poll: Auto Accident Fatalities and Injuries

I’ve been looking into solar panels for my house. In this process of talking with solar companies, I’ve been told that the reason our previously affordable electricity rates have gone up 10% +/- last year and going up again 20% + this year, is for two primary reasons. First, now that power companie...

Re: War in Gaza

That doesn't justify turning cities into rubble and massacring civilians. While I personally agree, I also believe in taking it much further and saying that nothing justifies war at all. And the evidence has always been, that warriors have always been willing to turn cities to rubble if necessary. ...
