Re: Sexual Immorality in 1 Corinthians 5
The role expectations on the part of the OP are important as to the decision to participate in this thread or no. Max, I think the OP was quite clear: This is a Bible study thread, open to people who believe in simple obedience to Scripture. I would like to request that people in this thread follow...

Christians, polls, and gay marriage
For me, one of the big surprises about gay marriage has been this: many Christians have quickly changed their views. So how do the rest of us relate to them? When we relate to the world as a whole, how do we deal with the fact that many CHRISTIANS are saying that we are wrong about the Bible and abo...

Re: Sexual Immorality in 1 Corinthians 5
My impression is that Paul had not the least idea about ethics (as a critical reflection of moral habits). He simply gathered some habits which were detested in his environment. With other words, he was a conformist. Being obedient to Jesus does not imply being obedient to Paul. We can agree with P...

Re: Sexual Immorality in 1 Corinthians 5
Request: In this thread, could you focus on 1 Corinthians 5 and link what you say to the text, interpreting it in context? To me, this passage is about dealing with sin in our midst, not how to raise children. To me, these are direct applications of this passage: Paul says not to focus on judging pe...

Re: January 6 Coup Attempt
While still based largely on the failure to act, Rep. Adam Schiff (D., Cal.) insisted that “if that’s not criminal, nothing is.” The opposite may be true from a First Amendment perspective. I went and looked it up. Here's what Adam Schiff actually said: This is someone who in multiple ways tried to...

Re: Bible Verse: The Mandate to Mentor
Here's the verse: And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the mea...

Re: Can we make MN more hostile?
Let's act out Martyr's Mirror. We can take turns so everybody gets to be a martyr sometimes and a persecutor sometimes. Everyone else gets to be the cheering crowd.
Passive aggressive people can play both roles at once.
