Re: Dealing with Death
Keeping any kind of in home memorial such as a child's bedroom in memory of a son or daughter would not seem to be healthy. In our old order circles we do have yearly gatherings for those who have experienced accidental deaths in the family - it is a way or remembering and also of sharing with thos...

Re: Apologetics and other approaches
I have ordered a copy of the Dallas Witmer book which is a must read for Ernie's workshop. Very good book. It should be entitled Gentle Apologetics . I find that a lot of the people I'm in contact with are itching for a debate and normally can out do me, or think they can. I feel that the best come...

Re: Self-righteous
Here's the entire passage from Luke: He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and looked down on everyone else: “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee was standing and praying like this about him...

Re: What size/version/format Bible do you use?
I've got a Kindle Fire but I tend to use my phone or my computer instead. I've read some books on the Fire, but don't use it for Bible study.Judas Maccabeus wrote:Am I the only one here that uses a tablet?

Re: Immersion vs. Pouring Baptism
Can you give some actual illustrations? I don't know of any conservative church that would require rebaptism by pouring for someone who was immersed. I wont be posting the names of anyone or any churches but know several people that were required to be rebaptized by pouring and afterwards people ca...

Re: Self-righteous
What do we mean by "self-righteous"? How does that look in our relationship with God? In our relationship with others? Can you draw me the picture of self-righteous people in the Bible? What is the opposite? What does that look like in the Bible? The pharisee on the street corner ... [bib...

Re: Can we make MN less hostile?
Just so you know: two classes of people bug me. Those who think conservative Mennonites don't know any thing and those who feel they need to defend us but won't join us.
But then I struggle with being irritated a lot now a days, especially in the evenings. Not sure why. One reason I don't post much.

Re: Immersion vs. Pouring Baptism
Don't accept immersion? As in make them be rebaptised by pouring? I'm pretty sure immersion in a conservative Anabaptist church transfers into all the ultra conservative Mennonite circles (not sure about old order thought). Some do not accept immersion and would require pouring, yes. It really depe...

For discussion: Is a slave stealing himself when he runs away? If he steals some of his master’s money, is he just taking what his master owes him anyway? If he then becomes a Christian and wants to make restitution, does it mean he needs to return to his master? Does it make a difference if his mas...
