Re: "If you don't vote, you have no right to complain!"
"If you vote, and your party/candidate/cause wins, you have no right to complain when you don't like the way it turns out." "If you vote, you have no right to complain." "You have no right to complain." "You have no rights, only 'privileges'." [I've heard abou...

Cortana.
Ever hear the saying "I heard it from a little birdie"? Well, Cortana is the little birdie that is telling Microsoft everything it knows.

Re: Is it important to emulate the Anabaptists?
I think that too often those who claim to be following "the anabaptists", or any other group, for that matter, project their own views back on someone from the past who cannot defend their reputation or actual view. An obscure remark is blown up to represent one's current, well-developed i...

Re: You Can't Roller Skate in a Buffalo Herd...
Funny. Roger Miller was popular when I was growing up, maybe especially so because he was claimed as an Oklahoman, and I suspect that he often played in near-by Tulsa (probably at the Cain's Ballroom, a popular Western music spot) and I had to look it up, because I remembered the lyrics wrong, as: &...

Re: Windows 10
OK, I finally see the Copy to & Move to icons. So I did a comparison: Windows 10 mouse based approach: Select file(s) Click Home Click Copy/Move to Click Choose Location Navigate to desired destination. Windows 7 mouse based approach: Select file(s) Click Edit Click Copy/Move to Navigate to desi...

Re: Torrent Downloads
Used them multiple of times. One does have to be a little weary, but most are fine. I, for one, am more than a little weary. But I'm pretty much fine with that, because it's been that way for so long now already. But regarding the safety of downloads, I have the good fortune of having a test system...

Re: File associations lost
George, I just dealt with another case of where all of the program shortcuts switch to another program, Adobe Photoshop, or maybe the Photo Viewer in this case. (I didn't pay a lot of attention to what they were set to.) In all of the cases I've seen, however, the systems are completely off-line, so...

Re: Windows 10
Whoa. I had read some place that "all of the items from that menu item have been moved to the icon bar" (or somesuch), but I just didn't see them. I'm just an old-fashioned menu-keyboard guy, and I tend not to use any of the icons, just keyboard shortcuts. (I also have trouble with repetit...

Re: Windows 10
That looks like the one I had been looking at as well. But I'm also testing to see if I can just copy the ones people like back into the mounted disk image, so that they install automatically. That is probably a far reach, though. But if I can do a lot of the modifications before I create a custom I...
