Re: Standards?
I am an ordained Assemblies of God minister trending toward Conservative Anabaptist belief and practice. I have never been in a church that has any standards, and I don't like the results that I have seen, both in myself and others. I find myself longing to be in a community that has agreed to follo...

Re: Foolish Controversies - Spurgeon on Titus 3:9
I think Spurgeon hit the nail on the head with the examples of questions bolded above. That it was why I likely will drift away again from this forum as for me, I get too easily drawn into areas that do waste my time. And I don't care for put downs on groups such as those 'Evangelicals'. Seems like...

Re: Saved by Grace, Judged by Works
I think the Bible itself teaches "OSAS", even though I am unfamiliar with the term. If you study the early church (up to the time of Constantine), you will find that the "once saved always saved" position is nowhere to be found. It was introduced later on. Anabaptists do not bel...

I really like the way you have put this Neto.Neto wrote:you cannot loose your salvation, but you can certainly reject it.

Re: Saved by Grace, Judged by Works
Regarding obedience, who here is perfectly obedient ? And therefore, at what point are you 'obedient enough' to 'remain saved' ? I find there are definite areas within Anabaptism where the practise of obedience is completely ignored whereas in other areas it sounds close to or is a requirement of s...

Re: Foolish Controversies - Spurgeon on Titus 3:9
Adam raised Titus 3:9 in another thread recently. I'm trying to use my time more productively, and I definitely have a problem here, getting involved with foolish controversies. Don't be too hard on yourself. I personally find many of your contributions to this forum to be encouraging and engaging ...

Re: Saved by Grace, Judged by Works
.... But ultimately we will be judged by our fruit and not our confession of faith. .... This one sentence in your original post makes me uneasy. I'm not certain what you mean by 'judged'. I mean when we stand before God, he is not going to be concerned about whether we have the right theological a...

Re: Saved by Grace, Judged by Works
So I think the warnings/judgments are for those who did not truly come to Jesus Christ, did not repent of their sin and were not born again, did not receive a new heart and do not bear fruit accordingly. Thanks Paul for sharing your thoughts. It appears that you are coming from a OSAS (Once Saved, ...
