Re: Saved, unsaved, saved again

I thought I got saved when I was 3 or 4 since I asked Jesus into my heart and spoke in tongues. I think I repeated this when I was 9 and 13. Don't really remember anymore. By the time I was in my 20s, I didn't think God existed at all and certainly didn't feel, act, or think I was saved. In my 30s ...

Re: The Brotherhood Filter

In times past, God has raised up an individual to get the "brotherhood" out of a rut in their Christianity. Some church splits (i.e. Anabaptism) resulted in renewed interest in following Jesus. However, regardless of how we attempt to remake the church or not remake the church into our lik...

Re: When does Romans 14 apply?

If I would put Paul's examples from these verses into one category (eating meat or not, esteeming one day over another), I would say they are examples of personal religious conviction sincerely aimed at pleasing God . A brother or sister doesn't eat meat because they believe this practice is what G...

Saved, unsaved, saved again

This thread is not for discussing whether or not one can be saved and lose their salvation but rather if you thought you were saved and then backslid (living for self, disobedient, deliberate sinning), did you sense at that time that God never abandoned you as His child (you were still saved) or di...

Re: Spirit Led Christians

In John 16:13, I don't think that "all truth" means "the answer to every question Christians fight about". The favorite verses of a lot of Christians seem to be "They will know we are Christians by our doctrine" and "I came that you might all be right". But w...

Re: Highest calling?

There must be a dozen or so types of Anabaptists where I live and yet I have not run across any of these out amongst the public evangelizing. Note that that doesn't mean that none of those groups evangelize. We have many in our city that wear a unique Mennonite dress but I have never seen this dres...

Re: Evangelism - how did you come to Jesus?

How about you? How did God use people to reach you? Would you use the same technique or not? If you would, would you modify it? I guess I didn't give much of an answer to this in te OP. As I said my father used the "Romans Road" of scriptures to lead me to confessing Christ as my Lord and...

Re: Spirit Led Christians

Re: The dispute in Calvinism referred to above: (We’re off-topic with this, so I won’t write much about it.) Yeah, it's hard for me to believe that Calvinism vs. Arminianism debates demonstrate that someone is led by the Spirit ... I will drop talking about my example of how the Holy Spirit is said...

Re: From Cult to Established Church

For myself, the role of leadership is critical. If I'm observing a new group, I'd want to see how the transition of leadership is handled. What happens when he is challenged on an issue? How is that handled? I think time is a great revealer. What does the 3rd generation fruit look like? Absolutely....
