Re: Freight trains, pre-season garden planning, and random posts

Rail cars in the Susquehanna River... this was a hot topic on social media this past weekend, hence the reason I looked it up: https://lancasteronline.com/news/local/who-can-solve-the-mystery-of-the-underwater-train-cars-in-southern-lancaster-county/article_60f3cfd0-5a20-11e4-b13c-001a4bcf6878.html...

Re: Recreational pursuits enjoyed by Anabaptists?

My wife and I talked about doing an Amtrak across the country for our 25th. Not sure how feasible that will be until then. It's quite the experience, just make sure you plan for (un)expected delays. I was 2 days late going to PA and Amtrak added some extra destinations along the way  Also keep...

Re: Your Ancestry? Country of Origin?

I haven't done a test, but based off of my parents I'm Swiss/German/tiny amount of French on my mothers side, and Welsh/Irish on my fathers side.

Re: Freight trains, super-secret radio project, and random posts

Haven't gotten out to the tracks as much as I'd like the past few weeks. I hear a lot more action on the radio. Especially when they're servicing local industrial customers. Some of the dispatchers are real comics. The other week a freight train had flames shooting out the exhaust of a mid-train lo...

Re: NYT: How Working-Class Life Is Killing Americans

Although this has nothing to do with deductions on pay, the cost of transportation to and from work is a big expense here as well. For me I have a 40 mile round trip commute. Gas here in California is around $3.50 a gallon right now, but we see it go above $4.00 several times a year. I drive a older...
