Re: Terms for the decision to follow Christ

- Sarah was born again - Sarah accepted Jesus as her Lord and Saviour - Sarah was converted - Sarah received the gift of eternal life last night - Sarah opened her heart to the Lord - Sarah said the sinner's prayer - Sarah decided to follow Jesus - Sarah repented of her sins - Sarah got saved Some I...

Re: An Anabaptist Mega-Church ?

Didn't this die out? He used to seem to talk a good bit about it, but as time has passed since this article he is less and less vocal about it. I don't listen to him anymore, so correct me if this has changed. I imagine there was some level opposition?? I found this on the Woodland Hills website, d...

Re: An Anabaptist Mega-Church ?

Those house church groups of 30 or so that Woodland Hills has is like our MB church Care Groups. I believe this is the setting that the gifts of the Spirit can operate in if sought for and given a chance to operate. Large group gatherings work well for corporate worship, sermons and banquets, imo. I...

Re: The Lent Fast

I ran across this today in my searchings on living in the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit. Prayer, fasting, faith are all means to linking to the power of the Spirit. Regarding fasting here is a group in the book of Isaiah that fasted religiously and God told them He was not impressed by their...

Re: Powerless Christianity

Thanks Valerie for these exhortations. Could we say then that fasting should be something quite common to our Christian walk throughout the year to develop our resistance (spiritual maturing), through the help of the Spirit, over fleshly desires (i.e. food, entertainment, computer time, etc) that ca...

Re: Powerless Christianity

These are some powerful questions to ponder. I think one of the causes is really a lack of faith. When we focus on the Lord Jesus Christ, on His amazing Gospel and power, the enormity of His grace and love, then that faith will ultimately overcome the world, our own flesh and the devil, with all it...

Re: Powerless Christianity

Most Christian groups I have been around have very little to no gifts of the Spirit, spoken of in the NT, operating in their groups. In this area, I have not heard much about earnestly seeking these gifts. Why ? They either believe these gifts were for the early church only or they are just too afr...

Re: Powerless Christianity

As has been posted by others, the early church had a form of Christianity that was 'powerful' in the sense that the supernatural was seen in what they did by unbelievers. One man in the NT even offered money to get this ability to operate in the supernatural. Valerie posted the verse where Paul spok...
