Re: Preparation for Baptism
Similar to Steve above, our Brethren groups have typically been a bit more "organic" (for lack of a better word) than most contemporary Anabaptist groups, and we simply encourage folks to attend for awhile before baptism and ask questions, engage the congregation, learn from the preaching...

Re: Preparation for Baptism
Obviously the first step of preparation for baptism in the Anabaptist tradition is for a person to make a decision to repent of his sins and follow Christ. Once that has occurred, our church calls subsequent preparation for baptism "instruction class." It's a series of classes led by two o...

Re: Poll: Who will win 2024 Presidency?
Ken, in your opinion will Democrat voters be as motivated to turn out for Biden as they were in 2020?

I could actually vote on this one... no Myspace account, no AOL account. I think. My first email address was @juno.com. I did have a Xanga account.

Re: My former employer is on fire!
With Sharp Shopper right across the street, competition must be fierce. Is Sharp Shopper Mennonite owned? I only see them in areas with a large plain population. Not that I know of. They seem to pop up in Mennonite areas, Harrisonburg, Lancaster county, Belleville. Coincidence? I think they probabl...

Re: Christians and Trans
I believe in treating people with courtesy and respect including those that I fundamentally disagree with. For example in this thread Josh and Bootstrap are in marriages that I could not accept as legitimate due to my religious beliefs, but I hope both of them could say that over the years that we h...

Re: My former employer is on fire!
Old appliance stores here basically close when the owner retires. A guy in church who did appliance repair got to know a few of them and took over phone numbers/customer lists as the old owner didn't want to keep doing service calls. If you want to start your own business, appliance repair appears ...

Re: My former employer is on fire!
I'm sure Grace will be along soon to add to this. A few coworkers have family and friends that work there and they got an email yesterday stating they are not rebuilding. Back in the day, they had three stores. Now they have none. No surprise. I was just by there the other day and it looks like at ...
