Re: Questions about Communion / Lord's Supper

If I remember correctly, since the Mass is a “sacrifice” one cannot have a Mass without communion. Mennonites, or course, would totally reject that notion, as it is throughly unbiblical. Wait, which part is unbiblical? The Eucharist as a sacrifice or that you cannot have Mass (service?) without com...

Re: Baptismal Formula

Some groups make a big deal about it having to be "running water" as in a creek or stream. Others, not so much. This was in a farm pond. That actually shocks me a bit. If its gonna be outside, they want moving water. Fancy this, my wife remembers that her mom made a special dress for bapt...

I would expect that venue from Pond Bank, but not from the River Brethren.
If we're talking the same Pond Bank, they have a baptismal under their stage...

Re: Old German Baptist Brethren: OC & NC

Just as a bump up from a couple years ago, the OGBBC New Conference website has been significantly updated over the last few months, both in terms of content and user-friendliness, if anybody is interested. www.ogbbc.org Much better! When we go out in a few weeks to see our first grandchild, I may ...

Re: Questions about Communion / Lord's Supper

Before the pandemic we could also choose to receive the Precious blood after the Host. Now many parishes no longer offer the shared chalice to the congregants because of contagion. I hope this makes sense. Max, does this mean the congregants no longer receive the wine/juice any longer, or can they ...

Re: Communion Time Questions

... 3 questions...: Question #1: Are you still of the same mind as when you were received into the church by your baptism? Question #2: Are you still willing to receive and give counsel according to gospel order? Question #3: Are you living, as much as possible, in peace and union with your fellow ...

Re: Communion Time Questions

My congregation's Lovefeast weekend (an annual 2 day meeting each of our congregations holds, and which also encapsulates our communion service) is coming up in 3 weeks. Our practice is to send the deacons (and sometimes ministers with them) out in pairs to each home in the district on a Friday or S...

Re: Questions about Communion / Lord's Supper

It is interesting at all the variations of this practice even within Anabaptism. And then there is the whole issue of whether this is a sacrament or an ordinance. Sacrament often considered a means of God's grace as a blessing, salvation or sanctification. Ordinance usually means it is not a condui...
