Re: Evangelizing to self-proclaimed "Gay Christians"?

One thing I keep urging her to do is to simply read the Bible.
Homosexuality can stand in the presence of loop-hole, easy-going, watered-down Christianity, but it cannot stand by one who truly reads the Word and yields to the Spirit who inspired it.

Re: Charlottesville

Caesar decided to remove the statues. It's our job to respect that, is it not?

It's awfully easy for me to respect removing statues of heinous folks... Why are so many Christians struggling with respecting authorities when it comes to their decision to remove some old hunks of metal??

Re: Charlottesville

Of interest, being in the South- Most of the Christian folks I know are open to denounce racism when discussing these kinds of events, but they usually follow up immediately with "but we shouldn't rewrite history". Really? Is an expensive hunk of metal synonymous with history? Read a book ...

Evangelizing to self-proclaimed "Gay Christians"?

The title of this thread basically says it all. I'm asking as a long time, dear friend of mine has had two somewhat recent developments of identity. First, she's identifying and practicing as a bisexual. Second, she's desiring to be a church-going Christian. Surely this grieves me a lot, but what ca...

He
who crafted the night sky
who raised the mountains' loft
who carved the rivers' flow
who laced the flowers of the fields
who poured the oceans' depths
He
whose glory made all things glorious
'tis He who loves us

Re: Good deeds that bring God glory

Perhaps it's not the nature of the good deed or anything we may do, but instead could be viewed as that when we, Christians, do good deeds, the Holy Spirit makes it known that the glory is Gods.
Rivers of living water aren't living because of us- it's the Spirit.

Re: Christ Preached to the spirits in hades-

At a very basic level, it reads like God offering repentance and forgiveness one final time through the witness of Jesus to those who'd fallen before. Why else would he be preaching to them? Maybe I'm wrong.
Weird thought.

Re: Culture or Faith?

Obviously one could argue the point that Christianity is indeed a culture (or at least subculture), but what I'm talking about is the deliberate clinging to ethnic and social cultural aspects. Our identity is supposed to be in Christ- not the geographical region of Europe from which we came, not our...

Re: Culture or Faith?

Cultural identity is something I really see of no value in for those in the Faith.
It seems that most/ all CA groups have an excessively large cultural component, and I can't say I'm a fan.

Re: Catholic Questions

I met an ex-Catholic (now ex-Christian) this summer.
He said something that the "holy bread" of communion is, and must be, blessed by the priests. Is this true?
