Re: Anabaptist Atlanta GA?
As I recall Dwight and his family are house churching. He is easy to contact on his website or FB. Another group near Atlanta is Monticello Mennonite Church. You can Google their website. They had been house churching for a few years but I think they have been attending a local church since sometim...

Re: Meanwhile, in Texas
Because your Congress is dysfunctional. For example, since the GOP took over the House in 2022 they haven't passed a single individual spending bill which is where you would actually allocate NEW money towards specific things like immigration enforcement. All they have done is go from one self-infl...

Re: Prayer Requests & Personal Testimonies
I don't share personal stuff too often, but our daughter was struggling with some mental health issues the last several months. She is now in a mental health facility on a short term basis. We are hoping to get resolution. Those that have been here long enough know we haven't had the easiest road i...

Kids in cages. Lots and lots of evidence that this happened. Dumping families on the streets in the middle of the night isn't this bad, but it's the same kind of "let's decide not to care about these people - and play politics with them". The cages were built by Obama. Would you rather ha...

Re: Cons. Anabaptist ordination practices
You'd have to first convince me that the Catholic Church, televangelists, and the evangelical megachurches in America are somehow following the NT more closely than the plain Anabaptist world is. I would have a hard time being so convinced. I'm not sure what your point is. It doesn't seem to have a...

Re: Cons. Anabaptist ordination practices
I think by definition to be "Conservative" is to be very slow to make a change from historic patterns. In that sense, a transition to a salaried ministry is going to be a huge hurdle for a conservative people. As I said in the other thread, I'm not advocating for salaried ministry. Right....

Re: Cons. Anabaptist ordination practices
If you change the thinking of conservative Anabaptists, they won’t be conservative anymore. For an obvious example of this, in the CMC/RNoC, congregations have transitioned to paying their pastors. It is a useful case study to learn the changes this brings about. The term “hireling” comes from scri...

Re: Should CA ministers, deacons, and bishops be paid?
I too think 1 Corinthians is the most specific: But you don’t read it in full context to see this verse and so you understand it as meaning the opposite of what it reads as here. I’ve always understood 1 Corinthians 9 as speaking out very strongly against paid preaching because in context this vers...

Re: Should CA ministers, deacons, and bishops be paid?
An even better question is why ordained men should be paid but the common member is expected to work and live independently. I think Paul answers that question for you. 1 Timothy 5:17-18 NKJV 17 Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word a...
