Re: Anabaptist Evangelism

Not all Anabaptists but many in our local area do not expand other than through raising children to follow in their group's footsteps. This to me is evangelism. I hate to be so blunt, but to me this is Judaism, perhaps even the Pharisaical brand. No worries about your bluntness. My parents' faith d...

Not all Anabaptists but many in our local area do not expand other than through raising children to follow in their group's footsteps. This to me is evangelism. I would agree it can be evangelism and can be successful if the children do not just adapt religious ways but actually have a personal, sa...

Re: Anabaptist Evangelism

I consider the great commission to be given to the church today. It is the churches responsibility to send people to all nations and baptize them. Our personal responsibility is to be part of the church, and go when sent. This isn’t to mean we don’t evangelize at home at all! Clearly, we each have ...

Re: Anabaptist Evangelism

To some extent I was made to feel guilty if I didn't evangelize. What is you definition of evangelism? I personally believe the Great Commission was for the twelve apostles. Borrowing from other definitions I would put it this way - "Evangelism is sharing Jesus Christ in word and deed, in the ...

Re: S. Stutzman claims 67% of Anabaptist women have been sexually abused

Define sexual abuse, please. If its defined like the company I work for, who has a very strict abuse/harassment policy, I could look at a woman the wrong way and if she feels uncomfortable, I'm in trouble. I'd really like you folks to define abuse in the claim. You must be in a #MeToo movement comp...

Old Colony Mennonites in Mexico

I am touring central Mexico and am interested in knowing if there is a directory listing the various locations of the Old Colony Mennonites or Kleine Gemeinde in Mexico. Any info would be appreciated.

Re: Pros and Cons of living in heavily populated Mennonite/Amish areas vs. Not

A common enemy produces some strange friendships. Mid-Atlantic and Hope both separated from Eastern at different times years ago, whereas Cumberland Valley and Washington-Franklin had a separation from each other some 50 years ago. At that time Washington-Franklin taught animosity toward Cumberland...

Re: submission to the church?

There are many people in Old Order churches that do believe in the great commission. However because of hesitation by leadership to endorse mission, most with mission interests are in the supporting mode. So while this is something I would like to see promoted more, our younger people are getting i...
