Re: Is Haiti Near Actual Collapse?

A better question is what’s taking so long. We hear endless noise about Ukraine and Israel. Why not act in one of our closest neighbours? It's very possible to act today. I am currently assisting numerous Haitians. Log onto the USCIS website and fill out an I-134A for a beneficiary and they often r...

Re: Is Haiti Near Actual Collapse?

An interesting book about Haiti is "Haiti, a Shattered Nation". They haven't had a functioning government for decades and there's no infrastructure. The best solution, I feel, is to assist them in our wonderful country.

I won't forget how upset I w...

Re: "English" who join the Amish

That would be fair enough, although as I understand it they only switched to English once they had seekers show up who didn't know German. Do you know if Delano uses English? FWIW, I'm not against using English, just the majority of Old Orders I interact with don't preach in English. Too modern and...

Re: "English" who join the Amish

I'm not sure I would consider Unity and Smyrna, Old Order. Meetings are in English, they have meeting houses, Sunday School...and if you're doing Sunday School, you've left the Old Order camp. That would be fair enough, although as I understand it they only switched to English once they had seekers...

Re: "English" who join the Amish

#1, didn’t expect to sign in today and see Ken agreeing with some of old school Nationwide Fellowship extremism. #2, OORB aren’t really “Old Order”, despite the name. Much as the Old German Baptist Brethren New Conference aren’t old, German, Baptist, all brothers, nor new. #3, by numbers the most s...

Re: "English" who join the Amish

“Dear Princess”; I learned about it from a Baptist friend of mine who thought it was the greatest book ever. Sorry, somehow I missed this. I'm going to ask my daughter to see if she can find the exact quote but if my memory is correct is was something about being free with smiles to strange men. So...

Re: Features of Lancaster Mennonite Conference that transmitted to Conservative Spin-offs

I don’t understand considering Wash/Frank much different than Eastern. It simply made the same choice at a different time. The groups freely trade pulpits, marry, etc, Indeed, I would argue groups like WashFrank, yorkAdams and even now Appl will survive only because EPMC and NWF provide the center ...

Re: Features of Lancaster Mennonite Conference that transmitted to Conservative Spin-offs

Although I am one to warn against historical and current Protestant threats to Mennonite churches, if you look at Sunday School, the Mennonite implementation did not turn out too bad. I think there is no more overblown issue than the ah versus pre debate. But not just overblown when the two sides d...
