Re: Observing the Sabbath
John, Many of us have too much invested in a church title, a church hierarchy, or a paid church job to ever challenge these changes. That is why Christ condemned who should be the greatest, or titles of Father, Rabbi, or Master, and said that "freely give, freely you have received." Conse...

Re: Observing the Sabbath
John - In your opinion, is meeting on Sunday instead of Saturday, the same as changing Sabbath to Sunday? Raymond, The Sabbath is understood primarily as a day of rest, and there are some who rest on the 7th day, but can only find an assembly with other Christians on the 1st day. That was my positi...

Re: Observing the Sabbath
]The question that won't be answered is this: Who changed the Sabbath from the 7th day to the 1st? By whose authority was this change made? This question has been answered at least a dozen times in this thread, starting very early, but you keep saying it hasn't been. Nobody changed the Sabbath from...

Re: Observing the Sabbath
Wouldn't it also be possible for a flawed understanding of Christ to be the problem? I would put it this way: If Paul and Christ appear to disagree, then either my understanding of Paul is incorrect, or my understanding of Christ is incorrect, or possibly both. This is a really good point. It is he...

Re: Amish Salve-maker in Jail, Facing Federal Prison
Iridology is straight up witchcraft and has absolutely no basis in any kind of fact. If you want to choose to believe in weird, fringe stuff as your healer - fine - just stop and ask yourself why you are so committed to believing in these things. Yeah, just add Powowing, water witching, black boxes...

Re: Observing the Sabbath
Paul is wrong, but also right, in stating that what was added is now abolished, at least here on earth. Take care and nice to talk to you. John John, if I understand your words correctly, it appears that you do not accept the words of Paul as inspired Scripture. If I am wrong in my assessment, plea...

Re: Usury, Anyone?
I respect C. S. Lewis on this one: C. S. Lewis on Lending Money with Interest There is one bit of advice given to us by the ancient heathen Greeks, and by the Jews in the Old Testament, and by the great Christian teachers of the Middle Ages, which the modern economic system has completely disobeyed...

Re: Amish Salve-maker in Jail, Facing Federal Prison
Dear Valerie, Thank you for the link to the clinic in Tempe. That is one more option I have, thanks to you. Thank you again. Here is my story: My Amish doctor practices Iridology, based on the work of Bernard Jensen. I really had a hard time believing that it worked, until I went to him. All I tell ...

Re: Observing the Sabbath
But your black-and-white reading makes no room for relaxing anything in the Old Testament, including circumcision and sacrifices in the Temple. Unless you relate this to the rest of the New Testament, what started out as "just the words of Jesus" suddenly brings in the entire Old Testamen...

Usury, Anyone?
Friends, Are there any Anabaptist groups, or other Christians, that forbid usury and do not use banks? The prohibition against usury is based on Psalms 15:1,5 and other verses, and was a common understanding in many churches in the 1600's. The Plymouth colony in 1620 and others were founded with joi...
