Re: "his children are believers"

In regards to this then, at what point does someone become unsuited for leadership? Often the issues within a home are hidden until the children leave home. In regard to 1 Timothy 3:4, at what point is the child no longer supposed to be under control if we follow the logic that is not about believin...

Re: Philosophical and Theological Emphases - Songs

There was a sermon from Finny Kuruvilla about the songs we sing and how carefully they selected the ones they use in worship. Same basic logic.

I used to love "In Christ alone" until I listened to the words. This is why I regard the Christian radio stations as so potentially dangerous.

Re: Alternative Health Issues & Anabaptist Practise

At its core, the idea of letting bad things be looked at objectively sounds fine. I would worry more with the meditative stance required of it. That being said... apparently I meditate sometimes when I'm falling asleep (without meaning to) I never knew imagining a rock in my mind and getting bored o...

Re: Suing

The golden rule is powerful. Would you also avoid ever applying church discipline for the same reason? I would rather be disciplined and have it shown to me that I was living in sin, likewise if my brother is in sin I would want to hold him to the same standard to love him. Loving is holding accoun...

Re: From Cult to Established Church

I would suggest that the term cult is completely subjective. For example, my parents would consider the conservative Mennonites to be a cult. They likely wouldn't admit that but thats purely because of us and the fact they do believe in the deity of Christ. They would still consider Mormons and Jeh...

Re: Positive Predestination and Logic

I find that one, I have no opinion on predestination other then the passage Ezek 33:12-16 Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall ...

Re: Pouring for baptism

I'm not currently part of such a church but grew up in one. If you want me to share their reasons, I can do that
Feel free Ernie if you have anything to add to the description Edsel posted.
