Re: Bible Translations...

[bible]2 corintians 3,6[/bible] I wonder if the power that we are missing today to shine forth as Jesus followers is partly due to our reliance on the accuracy of the letter (with all the side tools we have today) and not the Holy Spirit who brings real life - salvation, hope, joy, peace, love, etc....

Re: Who reads Greek?

I read somewhere that early Anabaptists believed that by the Spirit of God, every believer was capable of understanding the scriptures and that although learning things like Greek could help in bible translating, the meaning of scripture could be known by an uneducated person through the Spirit. The...

Re: Evangelism - how did you come to Jesus?

"Giving your testimony" is something that conservative Mennonites copied from the revivalists. CGC, Mennonite (Holdeman) doesn't really use this terminology. Instead they talk about "when you were born again" and "why you converted". Reminds me of my dad, Josh. He ofte...

Re: Who reads Greek?

My curiousity on the subject is for those who have learned Greek: what advantage has it been to Kingdom building (i.e. is there something important with knowing Greek that gives some advantage of following Jesus over those who don't ?) Perhaps it could be argued that learning Greek could become a d...

Re: Voting without warring

Unfortunately, what has happened too often among our people is that this type of attitude has historically been used to justify separation (and indifference) to the point where we live comfortable lives of oblivion - maintaining our separate lifestyles and communities, and effectively neglecting th...

Re: Who reads Greek?

Here's something I'm curious about: how many people wish they had a way to learn Greek, and would put time into it if they did? Not me. Imo, this would just add to my list of projects that I don't believe are Kingdom building. My curiousity on the subject is for those who have learned Greek: what a...

Re: Evangelism - how did you come to Jesus?

I was baptized by my parish priest when I was about 2 weeks old. And then I was confirmed at age 13. That involved a lot of memorization. I took the confirmation name of Anthony - a wise move in an Italian parish. The confirmation mass was very, very early in the morning - it was the Italian mass w...

Re: Spiritual Warfare

There have been a number of articles on Ephesians, Chapter 6 and usually they reference it's directives as spiritual warfare. What do you think of this term and this chapter? I believe in spiritual warfare and find the Spiritual Warfare Worldview to be quite compelling and quite different from what...

Re: Are You Dead Yet?

Thanks Valerie. I just separated it from a one paragraph to help me ponder each one of these. Sure makes me see I still have a long way to go in Dying To Self. However, I do see some progress God is making. I think Martin Luther King Jr. once said - “I may not be the man I want to be; I may not be t...

Re: Who reads Greek?

Many things I read are "Greek to me". I find myself at times reading Greek right here on this forum. :laugh
