Re: Hymn Singing - My Roots
This year our family sang through the Church Hymnal, which is one of the hymnals that I grew up with. We kept track of which songs we knew, and just sang those. Turns out that we know 47% of them, 311/657. Last year we did the Life Songs, which is another one we grew up with. That one we knew 63%, ...

Re: 'anabaptist' Attitude Toward Adoption
Even if adopted children "don't turn out", does that mean we just don't do it? Is the end goal to have a guaranteed positive outcome or is it to love someone who needs it and may not rise as far above their circumstance as we would hope they would? (I have heard the argument mennonites sh...

Re: 'anabaptist' Attitude Toward Adoption
I didn't know which box to check either. If we had not been able to have children, I'm sure the idea would have been up for consideration. I feel adoption and fostering are a real and serious need, and those who serve in that way have my highest respect. There are unique challenges associated, but s...

Re: Likely Terror Attack at Rainbow Bridge
Just tell him that all the cows would have heart attacks if they received the clot shot and then it would be dog food so don’t worry, the cows had their hearts removed before being butchered just in case. Along with their spines because of mad cow. Soon we won’t be allowed to eat any part of the cow.

Re: Appalachian Mennonite Church
Can't the congregation vote no confidence in an ordained person? We have that procedure (although I hear it hasn't been used in a long time). Basically if "facts" come to light right after they are nominated via ballot, it's basically a way to withdraw. Almost no way for that to happen in...

Re: Likely Terror Attack at Rainbow Bridge
A customer called my store today to ask whether the animals where our meat originates have had those covid shots. He said we better find out, people don't know where their meat is coming from these days You didn't tell him that the meat only is available only because they weren't vaccinated? The va...

Re: Likely Terror Attack at Rainbow Bridge
So did you tell him the animals did not receive COVID vaccines? I believe he was told that we do not have information about what vaccinations the animals would have received. To find that out, you would have to go beyond our vendors and even their suppliers to the farms that supply the slaughterhou...

Re: Appalachian Mennonite Church
Is the actual selection process a different day than the ordination? We have the nomination/ballots etc. on a day that is a closed members meeting. Only members of the church are present, plus outside ministers who make previous arrangements to oversee the nomination process and ballot counting as ...

Re: Appalachian Mennonite Church
Yep. At our most recent ordination, there was a lot of pomp and circumstance. Some in our congregation feel that it should be this way (likely due to their Mennonite upbringing) But at least the congregation was seated up front. German Baptists have very few attendees at ordinations other than the ...
