Re: Is Haiti Near Actual Collapse?

It’s not “hypothetical”. The gangs are already established in places like Miami. And guess what, the people who get terrorised the most by them are fellow Haitians. I don’t agree that the solution for troubled nations is to relocate the population to America. I’m also sure there are plenty of unemp...

Re: Is Haiti Near Actual Collapse?

It's very possible to act today. I am currently assisting numerous Haitians. Log onto the USCIS website and fill out an I-134A for a beneficiary and they often receive the visas to emigrate in about 2 weeks. They are wonderful contributors to our community and they have a nice congregation a few mi...

Re: Is Haiti Near Actual Collapse?

A better question is what’s taking so long. We hear endless noise about Ukraine and Israel. Why not act in one of our closest neighbours? It's very possible to act today. A better question is what’s taking so long. We hear endless noise about Ukraine and Israel. Why not act in one of our closest neighbours? Maybe because the US doesn't feel like it has that much to fear if the worst happens (gangs take over the government). Maybe a gang-led uprising will just lead t...

Is Haiti Near Actual Collapse?

Apparently the Haitian National Police are now close to crumbling at the hands of armed gangs, and the US is backing a multinational effort led by Kenya to shore up the almost non-existent government that may not actually make on time. Really wild stuff. https://ca.news.yahoo.com/u-fears-haiti-could...

Well, that is certainly not derived from the liturgical calendar. :)
I know. I guess the God and country crowd have their own unique liturgy

Re: Lent and Ash Wednesday

Or a family could simply celebrate them privately at home instead of expecting the entire fellowship to do so. Personally I do not see this as being mandated outside of RCC or EO. Pray as you can, not as you cannot; just pray is my motto. The NT makes it clear no holidays are mandated at all: "...

Re: Is indulgence and decadence immoral?

From a personal standpoint, we teach our children about discerning whether we need a thing or want a thing. If we simply want it, then we have to pause and examine that motive. Adverts love to sell us on the idea that unnecessaries are essential because that is part of the sales pitch. Could you gi...

Re: Have you had a COVID-19 vaccination?

I got the jab (and a booster, later) because people with the jab could stop wearing masks in public. Well, shortly thereafter the mask order was lifted for everybody anyway. I had Covid a few months prior to getting the jab. It was like a cold/cough and mild headache, along with a weird lack of tast...

Re: Lent and Ash Wednesday

This is a progressive Anabaptist thing that seems to mostly exist on the pages of Anabaptist World - when I went to a mainstream/evangelical Anabaptist church (now FEC), there were always devotionals and other material for Ash Wednesday, Lent, Advent and so forth in the The Mennonite , which the en...
