Re: A Mennonite view of divorce and remarriage

So, should I reconcile with my ex wife or not? According to the Followers of the Way, doing so will consign both of us to hell. According to Beachy or Midwest, we should reconcile. Maybe half the Beachy's. The other half take a similar position as Eastern or Pilgrim. In actuality, I don't know of a...

Re: A Mennonite view of divorce and remarriage

Which standard of adultery determines admission to heaven or hell?

Do we go with the more moderate Beachy, Midwest, etc. standard or the more strict standard of Eastern, Followers of the Way in Boston, etc.?

Re: A Mennonite view of divorce and remarriage

Would anyone like a thread to explore what redemptive and reconciliatory ways are to deal with either divorced people or divorced and remarried people?

Re: A Mennonite view of divorce and remarriage

From a Biblical standpoint it's possible to have five husbands, and presumably possible to be divorced by some or all of them.

Re: Early Anabaptist writers on Divorce and Remarriage

Something interesting to me is that modern conservative Anabaptists aren't interested in the historic Anabaptist views on these things at all.

Re: A Mennonite view of divorce and remarriage

I guess we are just basing off of things we have seen then? And if that is the case: The simple fact is, I never see any good fruit from remarriages. Do you think I'm a piece of bad fruit, then? Do you think my ex wife is a piece of bad fruit? Because her dad was previously married too. Maybe that'...

Re: A Mennonite view of divorce and remarriage

One of the most offensive things I have witnessed is a man who seems to feel at liberty to have affairs, and whose wife eventually left him (but no divorce and definitely no remarriage - ever), who then expects her to reconcile with him. And since she won't file for divorce nor remarry she barely ev...

Re: Credible News Sources: The Russian Hacking Story

If we investigate how Russia might have influenced our elections, should we start investigating how the USA tries to influence everyone else's elections around the globe?
