Re: What is a Root of Bitterness?
I've seen from some of your posts that you feel your church leadership is not really ideal. Ordinarily I would say gather some people who support you and go talk to the church leaders, but I get the feeling that this might not work out well in your fellowship. I don't know what to say except that I...

Re: What is a Root of Bitterness?
The root of bitterness has its source in some event (or events) that we can't (quite) let go and then goes on to affect other matters. The root of bitterness, when left untreated, may lead us to becoming bitter (cynical, angry, mocking, etc.) Some of the fault finding we have seen on MN can probably...

Re: "Indigenous" Church Planting in North America
Ethnos Canada currently has some missionaries working with indigenous people in Canada's north. I suspect they could show us areas where an Anabaptist backed effort could also be started. However, in Northern Ontario, the Mennonites who went there years ago followed other government and mission prac...

Re: The *official* CAM scandal links thread
So hopefully we can agree that the best financial choices are not necessarily the wisest choices from an eternal perspective. The other thing I think we are doing is looking at this from a "common sense" perspective and may I quickly add that so called common sense is unique to each of us,...

Re: The *official* CAM scandal links thread
I find the recent comments on this thread breathtaking. Ungodliness is often tied to poor financial management??? I have never in all my life heard such a thing. The fact that it was posted on MennoNet is extremely revealing and belies the attempts of others on here to disclaim culpability for thou...

Re: Forgiveness
I will first try on our end and if that doesn't work, I will try on the next group. I think under the circumstances, the receiving group should consider lifting the excommunication. However, this becomes rather political then. We have been recognizing each other's positions.

Re: Sickness and healing
We are mostly taught that asking for anointing is based on a willingness to submit to God, even though healthwise, things are not looking good. However, on Sunday, one minister said something that sounded more as though he thought James 5 teaches faith healing.
