Re: Philosophical and Spiritual Happenings of the 1800's

It leads me to propose this: That any Christian organization or movement which does not keep Christ at the centre sooner or later becomes an anti Christ. I have a very similar opinion: that every generation that is not dedicated to reading, searching, understanding and following God's Word will exp...

Re: Personality traits

I just did two tests online this morning from two different websites. One says I'm ESFJ-A and the second site said I'm INTJ. I'm skeptical of the value of these tests. I've never seen the tests vary that much and I've taken different ones and have even studied the system to understand what all the ...

Re: Personality traits

It has consistently scored me INTP. I used to come out INFP all the time but the last several years I'm INTP. I can see the difference in myself. I think I use feelings less to make decisions than I did a decade ago. I've made a conscious decision not to depend on this system too heavily for how I ...

Re: Denominationalism

What are some fundamentals of Christianity, which without, according to Scripture, there is no spiritual life? Love for God, brethren, and all fellow men. John 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. Matthew 22:36-40 36 Master, which is the great c...

Re: Legalism?

Maybe at some point we have to define what it means to be "at peace" with someone. In one sense, I figure if we don't have ongoing conflict and strife between me and another person, then I am at peace with that person. I may not agree with their beliefs or the way they live their life. Rom...

Re: Antidepressants

To my knowledge, antidepressants don't remove a sense of guilt or condemnation. For a truly depressed person, they may actually give him enough mental "power" or courage to be able to face his guilt and condemnation. So I don't see them as an altogether bad thing. I suppose antidepressants...

Re: Legalism?

I don't want to hijack this thread either, but I have to wonder if God is truly happy with what many of our plain circles have become: constant in-fighting over technology, divisions, power struggles. Yes, this has been happening since the beginning of the Christian church. But just in the past dec...

Re: Antidepressants

I don't have a particular problem with Christians using anti-depressant and/or anti-anxiety meds. Unfortunately, in the current day, doctors are really quick to hand out antidepressants, often without looking for the real source of the problem. One of my doctors wanted to put me on them for frequent...

Re: Legalism?

Overall, I'd imagine that churches that seek to have an applied doctrine are more likely to drift into legalism, and churches that do not have applied doctrine are more likely to drift into apostasy. Would y'all agree? How does one reconcile the fact that every Anabaptist group has different "...

Yes, good point.
