Re: Why are Christian businesses targeted .....

No, but I am saying that political outrage means something specific, and it is different from what I think I generally do. I realise you think that, but some of us think that you do regularly fire up the political outrage machine - particularly on MennoNet. The opposite of outrage is to try to look...

Re: Old Order Amish & technology?

Is there a calculator online where I can plug in a person's income and number of dependents and this sort of report? No, there isn't; the above is based on experience including working with a family budget and figuring out exactly what kind of help is available. It will vary significantly by state ...

Re: Why are Christian businesses targeted .....

Seriously Josh? Maybe because we (Americans at least) live under a Constitution in which the First Amendment guarantees everyone freedom of religion and the freedom to practice their faith as they see fit. And most other civilized western nations have similar guarantees of religious freedom. The sa...

I think your belief is outdated.
Might also be due to prenatal traumas and other environmental types of factors.

Re: 'anabaptist' Attitude Toward Adoption

How do you know this about young Mennonite couples? I consider such a topic risqué. Do you discuss it around Sunday dinner or what???? Because they don't get pregnant for the first few years of marriage, which is statistically unlikely without birth control. And yes, women do talk about these thing...

Re: 'anabaptist' Attitude Toward Adoption

Look to the parents. In most cases it is problematic child rearing and not genetics. Whether the child is adopted or not. Adopted children are far more likely to have social problems than natural children, all else being equal. It is possible that adopted parents are unusually bad parents, but it s...

Re: 'anabaptist' Attitude Toward Adoption

I was pondering this earlier... I do not think I ever really heard a sermon preached on adopting children. At least nothing in depth. I've heard sermons preached on a single person's role in a church setting, but can't say I heard anything on adoption. It should be part and parcel of the comprehens...

Re: Why are Christian businesses targeted .....

I was pointing to hate crime statistics. I think hate crimes are a bad thing. I don't think Christians should endorse or studiously ignore hate crimes against other groups. If we do, I think that will eventually come back to bite us. In American law, the same rules apply to hate crimes against Jews...

Re: Outcomes of Overturning Roe Vs. Wade

If we want abortions to go down, I think we need to win hearts and minds. We need to show people a better way. Whilst the state should certainly investigate and punish murder, I agree that as Christians, we need to show people a better way than murdering and assaulting each other. That's honestly b...

Re: Why are Christian businesses targeted .....

How did Christianity get caught up in this victimhood identity? I don't think it's a fruit of the Spirit. I think other religious groups are much more persecuted, and Christians are often in denial of the persecution that Jews and Muslims face here, which is worse than what we face. Why is it a bad...
