Re: What defines you as conservative?

Nerto writes, "Threads like this remind me of my wife's family gatherings. ...... (And speaking of the color of men's shirts, both of my grandpas only wore light blue shirts to services. White shirts were considered worldly, a mark of pride.)" White shirts worldly? I have no idea how that...

Re: What defines you as conservative?

I prefer the term 'radically non-conformist to the world'.

Re: Poll: Church services during a pandemic

Australia's church restrictions are over. So we are practising as before now.

Re: Easterns/Hope Fellowship/Pilgrim Psychology

When I read this post, I thought hmm...a more progressive mennonite bashing on ultra conservative and intermediate mennonites post. But then I also thought, Nationwide generally obeys the orders given to it by the government with regards covid-19 restrictions, even if we don't like them much. We gru...

Re: Poll - Noah’s Flood - Factual or Figurative?

I think when it comes to the flood: 1). God's motivation for doing so was because the world had become so corrupt and tainted, it was in need of fixing it to rights. 2). Whether this part was figurative, literal in a localised sense, or all the world, isn't that important in the grand scheme of thin...

Re: New Smart Phone recommendations

I learnt off my Nationwide congregation that in the USA they've done a special deal with Apple to limit what applications they can load or use. It boils down to about 55 applications. The smartphone makes sense over there. Outside the USA, no such system exists.

Re: Amish & Mennonites Speak as One Rally 11/1/20 in Washington DC

Anabaptists are once again getting swept up in God and Country theology and really need to go back to their basic tenet of separation of church and state.

Re: What would you consider "liberal"?

On a personal level, why filtered internet? The Bible says as a man is in his heart, so is he. If having a filter is the only thing keeping you from going places you shouldn't, what good is it? Because as a seeker, it is one more step towards complete removal of the internet from my life. My partic...

Re: What would you consider "liberal"?

I find it very interesting that 12% say having TV is liberal, but only 5% say having unfettered smart phone is liberal. This seems very inconsistent to me. I would agree. My adult son told me he's had a Netflix account for near 5 years and he has no reason for TV and/or cable. I think the main thin...

Re: The Gospel and Salvation according to various faith traditions...

I think the OP also missed out Calvinists (God's people are pre-ordained to be saved). That is, only the chosen will be saved. Finally, I don't think Old Orders and Ultra Conservatives are all that different. Many ultra conservatives also believe in no eternal salvation and that only God truly knows...
