Re: Questions about Communion / Lord's Supper

OJ, here is the teaching from the Catechism of the Catholic Church which is an official teaching document of the Magisterium. I excised the relevant bits but I would also caution that this excerpt is also a part of a larger section and should be read in the context of the whole which is far too lon...

Re: Today ...

Today is Holy Wednesday or "Spy" Wednesday in lay parlance. Signing off for the rest of Passiontide and I shall see you when I see you. May you all be blessed with God's graces.

Re: Questions about Communion / Lord's Supper

The obligation to attend Sunday Mass and take Holy Communion weekly became Church law in the 4th century. This blog seems to say that weekly attendance at Mass (presumably including participating in communion) was a requirement originated by regional councils that became universal practice, but was...

Re: Catholic to Anabaptist

I'm not sure how much we can compare the 16th century Catholicism which the reformers critiqued to the current Catholic church. Before the Reformation Catholics did not think of themselves as Catholic, rather as Christians. Since they have had to define Catholic identify against other western tradi...

Re: Questions about Communion / Lord's Supper

MaxPC, weekly communion wasn’t instituted until fairly recently, mostly due to pressure from Protestants doing it. I believe Pope Leo made the change in the early 1900s. The obligation to attend Sunday Mass and take Holy Communion weekly became Church law in the 4th century. This blog seems to say ...

Since the 4th cen...

Re: Francis Scott Key Bridge Collapse

That ship was massive and Baltimore is a major shipping port. I found the video online and the size of that ship compared to the bridge leaves no doubt in my mind that it could easily demolish the supports.

Re: Francis Scott Key Bridge Collapse

This event is another example of how quickly life can come to an end for some and it could have been much worse at another time of day. We have a new bridge being built 30 miles from my home over the river between Windsor and Detroit. It is quite amazing to watch on the steady flow of Internet vide...

Wooden nickels? At least they are shiny nickels according to The BB : NEW YORK, NY — After news broke that the bond amount in his fraud case had been lowered from $454 million to $175 million, former President Donald Trump announced he would pay the bond in its entirety with bags of nickels. ...

Can I move in?
Wait, let me ask my wife.
She says 'okay' if you are willing to garden, hunt, rebuild her kitchen and perform miracles.
What kind of miracles?
Whatever is needed ;)
