Re: Church Planting By Relocating Families

Ernie: I quite like these paragraphs you wrote. Would the statement about the group of advisors also include the expectations that the congregation would "respect and submit peacefully to the decisions of the advisors?" Could someone share what a "plan for how to handle minority viewp...

Re: Campground Ramblings

Yes indeed; the tragedy is especially difficult as most of the businesses in Gatlinburg are family businesses and the sole source of income for many. My wife knows the city manager who also lost her home in the fires and so we have a connection of friendship. The mayor lost his too. Dollywood is the...

Re: College Education: "us" versus "them"

And perhaps I am being too harsh but may I suggest that perhaps a certain preacher should not be allowed to preach until he gets out of said ditch and gets just a bit more education. Reminds me of the story of a certain preacher who is said to have held forth at length on the dangers of educ...

Dolly Parton announced she's giving $1000/month for 6 months to each and every displaced family . When asked why she sai...

Re: "gay Christian"

Christians are in constant battle with sins they were "born" to commit, this is part+parcel of CHOOSING to leave sin/die to self, to follow Jesus Christ. :) the only question that matters is what Jesus thinks; Jesus is clear, He will decide, what He decides is not up for "popular opi...

Re: Sitting at the feet of Jesus

Well... While Jesus isn't physically present for us to quietly retire at his feet to listen to his words, His Spirit is with us and does speak. As with anyone that speaks, you have to make room to hear them. Do you ever notice just how noisy this world is? Not necessarily in a strictly auditory way...

Re: "gay Christian"

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36 If you've been freed by the grace of God, I don't see what grounds you have to intentionally carry around labels of your sinful past. I think it's easy to try and prove that such labels are beneficial, but I think that if you're a Chri...
