Re: What Is An Addiction?
I think that all of the above recognize the need for community of some sort in the battle to overcome. Whether it's Tops (for people with eating addictions) or AA (for alcoholics), or what ever. I think the local church should be a major factor in the battle to overcome. Too often we ignore such pe...

Re: Campground Ramblings
Any type of photos of any of the activities you've talked about here would be welcome. If you like, crop out pictures of people and other easily identifiable things first. Some of what you say seems a bit fanciful, like saying you hunt for wild turkeys each Thanksgiving. But instead of doubting you...

Re: Campground Ramblings
Why? Why not? Josh, that's not an answer; what is your reason for the photos? My question is reasonable considering your past negativity and history of sniping at Plain Catholics. i read, this ongoing fire with multiple deaths is getting almost no national news coverage, while, NYC has had lots of ...

Re: Campground Ramblings
We bagged one wild turkey and three deer Saturday. Turkey were plentiful earlier this year but they're sparse now. We ate the turkey yesterday. The cooks canned the deer into venison stew as well as vacuum-sealed meat for our freezers. We are blessed! More family time today and most and the travell...

Re: Credible faith
Are the fruits of one's life consistent with the Truth taught by Christ? It can't be just any truth or any fruit. It has to be fruit that reflects Biblical teaching. Does one spend all day on forums talking about Faith or does one go out to people in real time and try to bring that Faith into a livi...

Re: Credible News Sources
I think there is an important source we must defer to first: the Good News of Biblical teaching. Some questions we would do well to ask ourselves: -First act of the morning, do I pick up my Bible and spend time in it; or do I get online or pick up a newspaper first? -When faced with a situation or c...

Re: Church Planting By Relocating Families
Ernie: I quite like these paragraphs you wrote. Would the statement about the group of advisors also include the expectations that the congregation would "respect and submit peacefully to the decisions of the advisors?" Could someone share what a "plan for how to handle minority viewp...

Re: Campground Ramblings
Yes indeed; the tragedy is especially difficult as most of the businesses in Gatlinburg are family businesses and the sole source of income for many. My wife knows the city manager who also lost her home in the fires and so we have a connection of friendship. The mayor lost his too. Dollywood is the...

Re: College Education: "us" versus "them"
And perhaps I am being too harsh but may I suggest that perhaps a certain preacher should not be allowed to preach until he gets out of said ditch and gets just a bit more education. Reminds me of the story of a certain preacher who is said to have held forth at length on the dangers of educ...

Re: Campground Ramblings
Gatlinburg update: the confirmed death toll is now 13, nearly all of whom burned alive. Truly tragic! They expect the toll to rise as there are still many who are missing. Dolly Parton announced she's giving $1000/month for 6 months to each and every displaced family . When asked why she sai...
