Re: Could you join an OTC church?

If it means Only True Church, then I would avoid it. To say that none of them are Christian would be wrong however.

I said no., probably... I'm thinking that I would at least attend a Holdeman church if nothing more biblical was available.

Re: 1 Thess 5:22 Appearance of evil? Form of evil?

In other words avoid doing things that come across as being motivated by evil. Which is basically what I think I said. Come across to whom? And with that approach, how do you avoid becoming eye-servants? I'm not convinced that's what the text actually says. And that approach is so incredibly elasti...

It speaks about not having broided hair. I think that these are just illustrations God gave us about the practical areas of the Christian's...

Re: Technology's Impact on Anabaptist Society, and More Specifically, Youth

In my opinion, social media is creating more barriers than it is tearing down. Fortunately, young people, particularly Gen. Z, are not really adopting social media. My own generation is basically a writeoff. That does not correlate with my experience at all. Almost all of my children are millennial...

Re: Tattoos and Couches - What Old Testament Laws are Binding?

If you wish to play that game, since loving your neighbor is in leviticus, you can make the argument that if women are allowed to sit on the couch all the time, you do not have to love your neighbor. I think your argument qualifies as a syllogistic fallacy. If feeding a poor person is loving your n...

Re: Tattoos and Couches - What Old Testament Laws are Binding?

I don't feel bound by any of the OT laws. But many of their principles are carried forward into the New Testament. But we need to realize that there were various classes of laws. Since Israel was a nation, they had to have civil laws. How were they handle a lawbreaker, a rapist, or a murderer. Etc. ...

Re: Proverbs 16:10 (D-R translation)

Particularly of interest to me is that the verse seems to have an assumption that divination equals "right judgment". By the time we get to the New Testament, divination seems to no longer be acceptable. In the apocryphal books is still is, and it shows up in Ecclesiastes as you pointed o...
